Does anyone do a run up Calaveras Road in the east bay?

Sure, several times each weekend as I go up to my hillside hide away You do want to be careful of the horses and other wildlife at the base of the hills.

I've been there a few times. The first was in a rental for escape; not so fun. Second time was in my WRX; more fun.

I was wondering if any clubs make a regular habit of it.

I think most of the local clubs hit that road 1 or 2 times a year.
Mavericks could consider it for our December run... hop on over to our site if you want to get something going.

I was on Calaveras last weekend and came across three deer carcasses. And quite a few skidmarks into the hillsides.
Be careful out there!
Jim
OH! And LOTS of bicyclists,too!

Indeed, Jim is correct. There are lots of cyclists in the AM on good days. There are also a number of rather blind turns which are better and more fun once you learn them well. Care is always required but you can still have lots of motoring fun without breaking the law or taking risks.

NorCal has had runs on Calaveras Road and so have the Mavericks. Calaveras Road is my alternate route home from work. It is fun, but like people say, you have to pay attention to oncoming around blind curves where it is one lane.

I've been on it, first time by mistake actually. I always thought Calaveras Road was one of the most fun roads around.
