jmoser, I'd love to do this now, but cannot just yet. Do let us know how it goes though. I'm pretty sure MTH is the route I'm going.

SF james, are you in for this? I have Wednesdays, Fridays, most weekends....
I believe Wenzor needs some assistance and he's not that far from Sac.

I have sent an email to Franz to see what we can setup on getting the files back relatively quickly on the 12th so we don't have make it a two day deal. As soon as I hear back from him we can setup a time and place.

Thanks for your help Schlick, do we need to pay for the upgrade advanced on the MTH site?

You can pay ahead of time, what you are actually paying for is the license on the software, not the tuning. If you do pay ahead of time, make sure that you right down and bring with you the keycode that is generated for you.

Franz has agreed to turn get us the files back with a fast turn around time. With the time difference between here and Germany, 9-10 AM will probably be best for us to get started. I have a prior commitment on Sunday night, so if we could do it at my place that would be best for me. If this still works for you guys let PM me and I'll get you my address and contact info.

This Sunday the 12th--I'm there too! I'll pm you both--Wenzor, wanna fly down there together?

A little dilemna for me....this Friday I'm scheduled to go in for my 30K service, and they'll do my mandatory CA emissions upgrade at the time. I'm running v36 now...I scheduled this service at East Bay Mini, 90 miles from home, but the service advisor I spoke with did not inspire confidence....I was thinking I'd cancel the EBay service and just have it done here in Sac (where I haven't always been happy with the service either)...

so now that my MTH is on the calendar, I have to decide....do it with v36 first, and see how it is, then get it serviced where they'll install v39 and check out the difference? (I know I can send Franz the new files) or start fresh with v39 already installed? I'm leaning towards installing the MTH first, since I'm generally happy with how my car is running (especially in the winter colder temps Any comments?

No problem getting the license at my place, probably easier that way anyways.

I would hold off and do the upgrade to V39 later, make sure you are happy with the MTH and everything like that. I am going to be getting my recall and V39 soon as well, don't really want to though, my car is running like a champ at the moment, don't really want to upset the balance of the force!

I have a Mono-com too...

I'm in Woodside CA, (Near Stanford) and have a mono-com cable and laptop that I can add to any party in the area. I think one of the reasons that the MTH party's don't go too well is that you either already have it or don't believe it will work! Anyway, if anyone wants to use my stuff just PM me.

Should be fine with v39, I mostly have been lazy and don't like going to Mountain View for service, they aren't the best when it comes to customer service.

Wenzor, there's reports of people with v39 and MTH that are fine.

I haven't read of anyone reporting decreased performance in their car with MTH...but there have been some reports of problems when people had v39 installed...fortunately, there's lots of folks (like yourself) with v39 that its working great...and some have found it to be an improvement over their previous ECU version...

I just wouldn't upgrade my ECU to v39 if I didn't have to, because car runs good now..(MTH is a different kind of upgrade)

So I think I'll cancel Friday's service call, and get MTH first...then I'll have a better idea of how much difference in "feel" MTH makes, vs v39, anyways...

I just had v39 flashed the other day at MMV and in the 40 miles I've driven it so far I haven't felt a decreased difference than v36. While its still too early to tell I'll keep looking out for any new issues. knock on wood. I forgot how my MCS handled after driving the X3 loaner for the past couple days.

BTW, I previously had the evo flash, and with v39 I didnt notice a drop in performace, if anything, it seemed a bit better. Maybe my last evo flash didn't take? Maybe the car is still re-learning? (I might ask someone here to borrow their ECU-Serial cable since I'll have to d/l my ecu to get the evo update.)

Duely noted the techs spotted my pulley and noted it in their records

I'm going to actually have to say that there is not time for one more, I would just hate to have you drive all the way up here and not get your files back from Franz and have to set it up to do it again on another day. We can probably figure out a time and day coming up to do another party after the holiday rush settles down if people are interessted in doing that.

For those of you that are coming, try and be at my place between 9-9:30 so we can try and get those files to Franz as early as possbily. See you in the morning.

Everything went off with out a hitch. The files came back from Franz in about an hour, uploaded quickly after that. Definately will be offering another party soon.

There is a much bigger difference going to the MTH on a stock car.

Going to the one-ball on that MTH tune was a noticable change as well.

Adding a One-ball specific tune is percievable, but just barely.

But none of these impressions have been confirmed by any type of data logging, so take them for what they're worth!
