Setting up a Bay Area programming meet?

I've been meaning to post this thread for a few weeks, and now that Fanime is done and over with for 2011, I guess I have no more excuses.

I have been active in the various thread regarding NCS Expert and strobeyprobey's efforts to enable certain features of our cars. To date, I have successfully coded my '08 R56 and '11 R56N for...
  • Comfort close
  • Automatic unlock
  • Compulsory digital speed-o (enabled and disabled)
  • One touch sun roof
  • Double blink flashers
  • Disabled navi legal notice (R56 only, haven't installed v41 datens yet)
  • Modified vehicle order
I've since been contacted by several local members who are interested in enabling some of these features for their cars. Rather than answer multiple individual PMs, I've decided to fire up a thread to put together a meet. We decided on a place and time, and barring no personal scheduling conflicts, I and other can show up with a laptop and cables.

I've only worked on my own vehicles, but would be willing to encode for others with the understanding that you get what you pay for, there is no warranty implied or expressed, I cannot be held responsible, etc...

Anyone interested?

It's possible I could. I have the v41 R50 datens, which could apply to the R53. I've just never done a gen1 MINI before.

Lots of interest here for my '10 R56. I'm in the East Bay, but anywhere in the Greater Bay Area is close enough.

Pretty much what I listed in the opening post. Realistically, if you're able to get the setting out of the 2nd Gen Electrical section of the forums, they can be modified. I think the most recent discovery is the ability to have the alarm indicator on the tach flash even though you don't have the factory alarm installed.

I haven't gotten any solid feedback regarding dates an all. I'd have suggest something this weekend but I seem to be getting sick right now. Right now I'm thinking about the 18th.

June 18th works great for me.
I hope we can do this before July, because I'm moving to SD

Just throwing this out there then...

How about the Milpitas In-n-Out at McCarthy Ranch at 1pm?

Chime in if you feel a different location and time would be better.

1pm and that location works for me. Or, morning could work too, but any later in the afternoon wouldn't work.

Yzo, you'll let me treat you to some burgers, pearl drinks, or whatever else you might fancy to say thanks for doing this, right?

fongj: Ya, whatever's cool. I demand no payment for services rendered.

kreative: What time works better for you? I've got some office work to do earlier in the day, I can see what I can do.

Kinda grave-digging here...

...but are you guys still active with this? Any news or progress on the first gens? I ordered a cable and I'm trying to figure out all the software and stuff, but it sounds like having someone familiar with the program and such would be helpful when learning.

Trying to resurrect this thread....

I have the cable, software, and a laptop. Just need to get stuff installed and figure it out. Mere details....

How many people around the SF Bay area would be up for another meet and program? Maybe a weekend in February or March?

Count me in, would love to have those features (mentioned earlier in the thread) programmed on my 09 MCS.

Same here. Having issues figuring out what to install and making sure it's all there. One of the parts of ncs or ediabas isn't installing for me...

I'm down, let's try to get someone that's done this before to attend...haha

Ok, my goal this week is to get the software installed and talking to my CM4. Once that is done, I'll post here and we can start talking about a date.

I'm down for nearly any kind of mini-owner get together. I ordered a new cable (off amazon this time) that appears to be of better quality (not glued together). Since I know my software is installed correctly, it should just be a matter of getting familiar with the coding.

I'd be very interested in getting the one-touch sunroof option installed on my '08 R56.
I'm in Oakland, but could drive anywhere to make this happen. Cheers.
