For those of you who are going to Thunderhill on the 23rd of February ,and and might be looking for something else to do,
Niello Mini will be having a 2007 introduction party.The time is 6PM to 9 Pm,DJ food and drink.Q

Leaving 2pm Thursday from In N Out Burger (6015 Johnson Dr. Pleasanton, CA 94588)
near Hopyard & 580. We'll head north on 680 to 80.

So far three Mini's and possibly seven.

There is a meet and pick up your packet from 7 to 9 pm thursday night.
Casa Ramos restaurant (in the bar) this is a popular Mexican place right next to the Best Western.They will be there from 7-9pm. Registered drivers will receive an e-mail from Hooked on Mini's with more info about 5 days before the event.

How far away is Niello from Willows?
I wish the 07 Introduction wasn't the same day.
Going to have to map it out.

If you like I will meet you at In & Out and run up with you. It should take us at that time about 2 1/2 hours. If we get there early I can take you out to the track and show you where it is and give you a little tour.

Don't like the newest version at all

But ran into some friends and that was great too

 

Well, how did it go? Did you drive on the entire course - cork screw included? Who had more fun than they thought they would? Who will post pics?

Thanks to the NorCalMINI folks, especially Carol, for all the organization. The Hooked on Driving crew, instructors, Don from Mini Mania, and Dito from gotbluemilk.com for the photos. I had a great day out there with all the "new" MINIs. We should do it again next year, and maybe we can get some more of the classic Minis to make it out. I had a great time, learned a lot about driving my car on the track, and met a bunch of great people.

I was shooting video for three of the sessions. We got so much track time, my battery ran out on the first lap of the third one! I know I have video of LPHABA (Carol), KUL KUPR (Al), and INDBLMC (sorry, I forgot your name).

I'm going to edit the 48 minutes of video down to something reasonable and post it to Google Video when I get a chance. I'll post a link when I have that working.

If you go here you can see a video of my car with the same camera setup drving from Santa Cruz to Waddell Beach, sped up about 5x from actual. For ThunderHill I removed the center rearview mirror, so you'll have a better view out the window.
