Warranty Issues on 2003 MC [HELP!]

My 2003 MC was purchased in Dec 2003 and has 35k. I purchased it in July 2006 and it has been more fun than I anticipated.

My 3 year warranty is running out next month. Are there any warranty issues any of you have experienced or heard of from others, that I should be checking on before I am out of factory warranty?

Please post a reply here, or e-mail me privately at motorman4life@gmail.com
If you know of a site with a list of various repair issues and known problems covered by warranty, please post a link here too!!

Many thanks!!

Motorman4life,

I would suggest that you contact the service advisor at your dealer and ask them the same question. They should be able to give you a list of any recalls or warranty problems that might affect your car. The dealers get re-imbursed by MINI for any warranty work, so essentially that work is guaranteed $$ to the dealer.

Just knowing what other problems that others have had doesn't mean your MINI has the same problem. Unless your MINI has the same symptoms/problems they will not cover it.

Once you are out of warranty think mods, mods, mods.........more mods!!!!!

Cheers and keep the rubber side down

Actually, the standard MINI warranty is 4 years/50,000 miles.

Maybe he has his maintainence period confused with his warranty.

3 year-36k miles scheduled maintainence on all MINIs

4 year-50k miles warranty on all MINIs

this is how I understand it

If you have done any significant mods to your car (including but not limited to pulley upgrades, air intakes, even battery replacement), they will likely void almost all if not all of the warrantee anyway. It is not true that they have to prove that the modification was a direct cause of another component's failure (urban legend). Some dealership are better than others in what they will cover, but if you expect little or nothing from the dealership then you will not be dissappointed,

I 'm in the same boat. One thing to look for are the seat mechanisms, if they don't work right the dealer should replace the frames. They should roll to the front smooth when getting into the back seat.

Beware of the dreaded transmission failure! Doesn't matter if you have a CVT or manual.

Oh, and have the dealership check your front control arm bushings. They aren't lasting as long as they thought they would. They are giving out around 50,000 miles.

This is exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for. Thanks!!
I know if I am not having an issue, it won't be covered. I just wanted to get a list of some items and issues to double check before my warranty is up next month.

My mistake, it was initially sold in Dec 2002 (a new 2003 model), and not Dec 2003. That would have the 4y/50k warranty up at 38k in about 24 days.

Does anyone know of any website(s) with detailed lists of MINI warranty items/issues, listed by year?

I checked for body rust under the door gaskets (at the seam near the B pillar) and it was present, but it was very, very minor. I was able to clean it up and seal it easily with clear touch-up paint without making an issue of it.

I am having intermittent issues with the driver's window chattering when I roll it up. I also found the rubber hose/gasket that connects the zerk-type fitting at the rear wiper fluid outlet to the plastic cover (that contains the nozzle) had completely corroded. It channels the washer fluid to the nozzle. A new plastic clip-on piece (at the base of the rear wiper) with a new spray nozzle and gasket/hose are on order.. covered under warranty.
