For anyone offering cheese and wine, perhaps a generous amount of both could be placed in a gift basket and given to Carol Witt. She deserves it.

The trouble is at this rate it will be another 6 months before that wine is finished.

Yeah Skiploader, that pack of like 300+ people attending MMW must all have been A-holes, myself and most of the people on this site included. Too bad you missed your opportunity.

What opportunity are you talking about?

The 2005 MMW Event was amicably discussed awhile ago. There were several respected members of this forum who posted there. I mentioned in several places on that thread that it was a minority who made the event uncomfortable for a lot of people - but it was a very vocal minority and one who had a few event proctors in their midst. This reflected badly on the organizers who obviously worked hard to make it all happen.

During the three day course of the event several of us tried to relate what was going on to the event staff on hand and were basically told to go somewhere quiet and die.

Having LarryP come onto this thread and liken the parade lap "inicident" to 2005 MMW is stupid. The Wentzel's 12 year old daughter was heckled for having a trache tube by some jerk in an proctors shirt. The Bakker's were told that people like them shouldn't be allowed to attend succeeding events (I took it to mean the fact that they were new Mini owner's but they are an interracial couple - so go figure out how they felt).

The fact is that whether you like it or not, you had a group of Classic Mini owners who acted like complete tools and made the event less than it could have been. The fact is that attempts to deal with their behavior were ignored.

If that makes people who were upset about being treated like ***** at the event whiners in the eyes of LarryP - well, all I can say I can live with being called a whiner by a jackass.

Sorry SKip, I didn't realize you actually attended the show, and thought you were wanting to play devil's advocate. I figured that if the ***** started flinging, I'd fling it back. You are right, the MMW comment was a poor attempt at hijacking the thread, and doesn't need anymore discussion. I'm sorry about the problems you and some other people had encountered during that weekend. From my recollection, there were quite a few interacial couples in attendance, including me and my wife. What's the big deal? Who cares? It definately wasn't, nor would it be an issue other than a dumb thing to say. It is unfortunate to see a disability become the topic of riducule by a bunch of ignorant jerks, but I believe in Karma (sp?), and what goes around eventually comes around.

Here.... have some Calamine lotion. You can walk around pink for the day.
You know pennicillin takes care of most of these type of problems.

I'm Sorry

I'm sorry I unleashed the furies/banshees/whines. I wrote this Saturday night while I was venting my frustration at not getting to drive a lap. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that this would still be going a month later. I missed out, boo woo. Someday maybe I'll get to. The one thing that did come out of this for me was I got to meet some great people, from Grant Pass for starters. I think that there were more people upset than people that did a lap but stuff happens. I want to thank Carol and NorCal for doing all of the work, up front and otherwise. Without them taking the time and effort I couldn't have even gotten coral pass tickets. I didn't cry into my free lunch on Mini Island. I didn't cry into my retail therapy that I did at the Patagonia outlet in Santa Cruz. I didn't cry while driving the peninsula roads with my wife. Big boys don't cry. In total please delete this thread. Or put someones name other than mine on it. I'd hoped to someday start a hot thread but this one.

lol. hey in my book everyone has a bad day. I unfortunately have several bad days every day... Now Dr. Obnxs probably is having plenty of bad days... see, he seems to have picked up something contagious.... itching, scabs.... we kept telling the good Dr. to stay out of those sort of places...

Nah, just kidding. I couldn't resist but help beat the dead horse... such a pitiful picture if you really think of it....
