Gauges

Does anyone have the gauges that BMW sells that attach to the Tach? I'm trying to find out if they are 52MM... long story short, I have Nav and want to see if they fit in the bracket thats made for under the toggle switches... as I'd like a better set of gauges than voltage and oil temp...

If anyone has them or knows of someone who's done this?

I've got them. They're made by Stewart Warner and are 2-1/6" diameter = 52mm. I'm actually replacing them with Autometer gauges for boost and oil pressure. I'm also looking for a clean way to mount 2 more gauges (water temp and oil temp) above them. Something like the ALTA pod, but for 4 gauges. Maybe I'll have to have it custom made. Know of anything? As far as I know, the S/W gauges for under the toggles are the same size and black, not silver.

Logical setup if you have duel steering column gauges.

Actually, the OEM gauges for the console are VDO, and I think black. I guess so there is less contrast with the surround. I can't figure out why these particular gauges and two companies were selected.

I may stay with the OEM gauge holder at the steering wheel and just change out the gauges, for boost and oil pressure. Maybe then buy just the OEM console holder and put water and oil temp gauges there. Decisions decisions

I saw 1 fellow at last years "Big Mini Day" and he had a tandom factory set up.

He welded a 2nd set with risers so that they were about 3 inches above the other 2.

It looked OK and did keep them in line of sight.

bpago,
How did you mount the boost gauge between the Tach and Speedo. That's what I want to do! TIA Michael

Have you thought about A pillar mount?

I have 4 gauges on mine now and still have room for 1 more.

That's almost exactly what I want to do - except I would like to mount the three gauges on the left hand side windshield pillar. Some one had a set for sale recently - but the interior picture was of a right side drive MINI. Passed because I didn't know if it could be flipped for the left hand side

I custom fabricated a flat plate that attaches to the 2 large screws (spacers and longer screws needed) on the back of the stock Speedo / Tach.
The gauges are usyaly "flush mount" but in this case you use the 2 studs on the back as the mounts.
