find a shop that has been there for years

check out their work and go from there. Make sure the tint guy is there all the time in case you have any problems, they won't give you the run-around. Ask them to use good quality metallic film. they are the best and should last at least 5 - 10 years. Cheap films bubble up and int the removing process you may end up takin out the rear window defroster. Another thing, ask them if they'll use one piece for the rear window. The mini's is so small that Me thinks it won't be a problem.
good luck.

I can give you a name of a great installer in the North Bay area if you want to spend a day in Santa Rosa.

I recommend www.automalltintfactory.com , they install Huper Optik Ceramic tint, in addition to several others.

They are located in Fremont, but they install at Custom Car Alarms in Pleasant Hill on Wednesdays.

I've gotten 5 of my cars (including my MINI) done at California Auto Tinting & Polishing. They been around for over 25 years and have a lifetime nationwide warranty on their tint jobs. Plus they bake all their tint jobs. Out of all my cars I had 1 window that started to peel about a 1/4 inch and they re-did the whole window for free (the job was over 10 years old). The rest is still holding up. They do lots of police cars and exotic cars.

Give them a call. They are well worth the drive!

Another option, Vince (Owner/Installer) is a very good installer, its just that he doesn't work with the higher-end ceramic tints like Huper Optik and Formula One, otherwise he would be tinting my car.

He may be down for special pricing for group buys and car club members, I know that because he does that for the i-Club.com/Impreza.net Subaru enthusiasts.

I just called them for a quote on the Huper Optik Ceramic and he quoted me 450(if paid in cash) for the 5 windows. Is that normal for the Huper Optik film?

hi guys.....im Vincent the owner of Omega. ive been working w/ automotive films since `89. i believe in offering great products and great workmanship at an affordable prices. Do a google search and you know why. http://http://www.google.com/search?...=Google+Search

for high-end Ceramic Films we offer LLumar Axcess Ceramic. CP Films is the parent company of LLumar and Formula One. Both of the films offers the same shade and cost(same film 2 different box).

as for Huper Optik, i had the chance of try them out a few years back. what i found out was that this film tend to have what they 'ghosting or heat burn' marks when subjecting to too much heatgun heat. thats why we dont offer HO. some HO dealers remedy that by tinting the sides w/ HO only and the curvy back window w/ another brand.

-from BMW forum, this car was done w/ HO on all 5 windows

Yes I did, they do very good work. However, I have this imperfection that I can't explain:

You can only see it from certain angles during certain parts of the day, for the most part you can't see it, but when u do...its very ugly and annoying. ------- offered to take a look but unfortunately like every other business, your very low priority once they've already gotten your business. To this day I haven't been able to schedule an appointment w/ them...it's been about 4 months :nixweiss:

do your research first...what i recommend for ppl to go out to car meets and checkout other cars and ask a lot of question for yourself before spending the $$$

Norcal minis is having a a detail day day on April 26th. Henry from window tint workz/925 tint does very nice work you can check out my car. If all you other vendors would like to set up a date contact the club through info@norcalminis.com This is not an column for vendor ads. We are open to working with other vendors. Its just that the forum guidelines for vendor ads are being streched thin here.
