April NORCAL run to the wine country
As far as I know you don't need a liscence to operate on any of those channels. The channels are dedicated to "family radio use". We have been on this channel for a long time and have had no trouble. At this time I won't change the channel as to many are using it this weekend to contact us on the run. Larry

I understand its a little late but it really would be appreciated since I dont want the FCC on me. If not then ok, I will still see you guys at the meet point in Valejo.

Larry,
To operate a 2-way radio on the GMRS frequencies you are required by Federal Law to have a FCC license. The family channels that do not required a license are limited to channels 8 thru 14 having a 2-3 mile range.
Channels 1-7 and 15-22 are GMRS channels with a range up to 8 miles depending on your equipment. So if you are using channel 7 with any of its sub-channels, you do need to purchase a license.
But don't dismay... all you Norcal members can purchase your licenses online at www.fcc.gov/wtb/uls or call 1-800 418-3676 before your next run.
REME always uses 17-7 for extended range, easy to remember, and fewer non-club members using it.

Yes,Larry. Thanks for a GREAT drive !! Watching the peoples faces as we were "ushered" to the promenade was priceless. I also liked the Indian family lining up to take photos in front of the cars.
Great Fun, Great People, Great Day!!
Thanks Again,
Jim
Oh! And the bubbly wasn't too bad either.
