Clear Bra and Tint

Hello all! I'm a fairly new MINI owner...I'm about to break 1200 miles. I'm very happy with my car in most respects. I'm looking forward to modding Winston in the future

I just wanted to give major props to Vincent at Omega Tintwerks in Pleasanton...He did a great job on my tint (35% all around, 20% for sunroof)...looks like they were always tinted. Better than the job done on my M3. And he did my clear bra. He is tucked in the clear bra in the scoop area and head lights...very nicely done. He is very detail oriented, and a perfectionist. He does really good work. I recommend you give him a try.

I just got off the phone with him and made an appt for May. I don't even have my car yet! haha. But the car should be here about a week or so before I see him. I will have to take my chances on rocks before then...

I actually planned on getting the clear bra work done someplace else, and decided to Google a bit to find out more about Ventureshield. In the process I found out about Omega Tintwerks. He has a 5 star rating on Yelp, and that is hard to get! I didn't even see your review until just now, so it is yet another confirmation. I am not sure if I will want tinting yet (I think I do) but if so, will get it there too. I guess I will see if he can give me a little price break if I do both there.

Funny...if you google Omega Tintwerks...and you'll see he does a bunch of work for other car clubs, forums, etc. He's wrapped everything from Lamborginis to Acura SUV's. What's nice is that he wrapped a few 2008 MINI Coopers before mine so he knows what to expect already.

He is just really busy as the local BMW dealer calls him quite a bit. So if you really want tint, I say bite the bullet and do it all the same time. He even did my sunroof, and I'm very glad he did. My car feels noticeably cooler during my commute home. And his work again, is very detailed oriented. If you are getting the PW MINI, tint should make it look good.

Thanks for the tip about getting tint at the same time, good idea! I guess I just want to drive the car for a couple days and see how I like it w/o tint. I am getting the Redwood Red lounge leather interior and not sure I want to "cover it up" for those who might want to peek inside my baby. Silly (and vain), I know but oh well. haha. Chances are good that I will get the tint though, it will make the car cooler both literally and figuratively.

Sounds like a nice combo...post some pics when you get the car. And you could always go 50% or more if you just want a very light shading.

I have to snap some shots and post them...I've been too lazy.

Vince (Omega Tintwerks) did my tint/clear bra also, and did a great job. Excellent attention to detail!

OK. OK. Forgive me, but the anticipation has been just too great. Isn't anyone going to observe that a clear bra, regardless of tint, just has to be every man's dream? And that Vince's company is just too close to having a most appropriate name? I'm sure my attention to detail would be equally focused.

OK. I'm done. Sorry.

Don't forget, you want to protect that beautifully expensive leather from the UV rays too though. I don't have much doubt you will want it tinted after the first hot day in the Bay Area, but even if you don't consider getting the lightest tint just to protect the leather

Vince did a full hood wrap for my Mini as well as getting the bumper, lights, and mirrors. He also tinted the windows and the sunroof. Freaking awesome job! You'll find a lot of praise for this guy if you look around, not just here, but in other automotive forums as well (Subaru guys, I think I saw him mentioned in the Ferrari group too).

Here's Vince as he was working on my car (sorry cruddy camera phone picture).

Thanks for all the input! My mini shoudl be in in a week or so and I already made an appointment with Vincent for clear bra and tinting. He sounds totally nice and was glad to hear he had a good rep on NAM.

Now I just need that darn boat to unload....

What does he charge for clear bra? I got an outrageous quote for 3M protection (hood, bumper, rear view mirrors, door handles, hatch handle) from SF MINI and thought I'd look around.

And does he install stripes? I want to get stripes, but want to do them on top of the clear bra so they can easily be replaced (or just removed) if I want down the line.

Dealer will always be higher...and a rip off if you ask me. Vince will be cheaper. Just call him and work it out with him. I don't think he does striping...but you can ask him.

Hi folks - chiming in late in this thread but does anyone know what Vincent offers as a clear bra product? I've heard of 3M, Ventureshield, X-Pel, etc. Also, anyone get their clear bra done at East Bay Mini? When I ordered my Clubman, I chose the invisishield option but my MA scratched it from the order and told me they no longer offer that. When I asked why he mumbled something about a 'quality' problem. First time I heard of that and def not something I've come across on NAM yet.

IIRC, Vincent uses VentureShield. I believe EB Mini has clear bras installed by an off-site contractor/shop, but it may be that they're not doing so well. I'd highly recommend Vince's shop.

SF was offering a 3M product when I was looking around. Don't know if East Bay is doing the same thing or not. I believe that Vincent uses Ventureshield (he's listed as an authorized dealer on Ventureshield's website).

My MINI should be here in a couple of weeks. I should make my appointment with him. I have never, ever considered tinting windows in a car, but for some reason, now, I'm considering getting my windows tinted on my MINI. Is it true that the windows are tinted to 70% from the factory, so by CA law you can't add anything else to the front two?

Does Vincent have one brand of tint he offers, or more than one?

Thanks, kreative. I've heard good things about Ventureshield. I will give Vincent a call to get the $ and an appointment.

Has anybody installed a clear bra on the doors? How much extra is that? I hate door dings and wonder if the clear bra would prevent dings or at least paint scrapes. The mini's do not have door guards so appear especially susceptible to door dings.

Can anyone tell us how much you paid for for the clear bra job done @ Omega? Just want to know the ballpark figure before talking to Vince...

I just got a clear bra done by Vincent @ Omega this week (Monday). $550 for partial hood, front bumper, and mirror caps. Looks amazing. You can't even tell it's there unless you look at exactly the right angle. He cut around my sport stripes so that there's no big hump where the clear film goes over/meets the stripes.

Vincent dropped me off and picked me up at the BART station, as well.

If I ever decide to tint my windows (not likely since I live in SF and it's not that hot), I'd go to him in a heartbeat.
