My experience at Nick Alexander MINI

I read on NAM in another thread, that a $75 oil change special was being offered by Amanda at Nick Alexander MINI in Los Angeles.

I wasn't due for a couple thousand more miles, but figured, always better to stay ahead of the factory recommended schedule, particularly with oil changes.

I was curious to check out a new dealership, even though I've had pleasant experiences with my current dealer, and my relative also wanted to take a look at the new Countryman S, so I traded a few emails with Amanda, and scheduled an appointment.

I arrived to see a giant checkered flag pylon.

Phil Gibson was my Service Mgr. and he took my key and information and confirmed today's work. He also provided a 32 point inspection which Charlize passed with flying colors with a couple considerations for future services (fluid changes), but was not overly pushy, mostly informative.

Sandwiched between red and black MINIs.

We went out for a test drive with Junior M., in an All4 Countryman, while my MINI was being worked on. Junior is an enthusiast and seems to know a lot about MINIs.

Then I spent some time chatting with Amanda about her positive experiences with MINI and the MINI community, as well as her former beloved GP.

Before I knew it, my MINI was done. And Phil kindly offered a car wash, and even followed us out the door to point us in the right direction for a place to eat (Subway).

Summary:
1. Oil Change at a great price
2. Friendly, low pressure service
3. Chance to experience and drive the Countryman
4. Car washed and returned in great condition with a quick turnaround

All in all, a pleasant experience, and I can't think of any downside. It's a little bit of a trek for me, but was well worth it and enjoyable today.

Thanks Amanda and Phil for taking care of "Charlize" and thanks to Junior for the test drive in the Countryman.

- Randy
