no no.... no tickets previously purchased for field day fest will be accepted... those are all being refunded. you have to purchase new tickets to this new event... and if they're going to do that they better do so soon cause im sure they're gonna go fast...

i heard that they couldnt have it cause they wouldnt be able to control traffic... so dumb. but as long as i get to see blur i'm ok with it. :smile:

10:00am Sunday the 8th of June, Jone's Beach State Park West End 2. Get across a bridge to LI, Hop on the Cross Island S, take So. State W to signs for Jones Beach, Wantaugh Pkwy I believe...

 

I would really like to go but I'm still not sure if I can make it. I'm leaving town next thursday and I have A LOT of stuff to do before then. Also, I don't think my boyfriend will go to the meet with me, and I have to admit I'm reluctant to drive out to L.I. all by myself.

If I do go though, should I plan on this being an all day event? Also, if I get on the So. State towards Jones Beach, will I see signs for the state park exit? I tried looking it up on mapquest, but well, you know how that goes...

Why wont your boyfriend go? It will be fun. Yeah Im pretty sure its an all day thing. cant help you much on directions I just use my NAV or in this case...follow GMINI.

Yes there will be signs. Follow my directions above or enter "Jones Beach State Park, Wantagh, NY 11793" in Mapquest. That should work.

 

i always take the meadowbrook to get to jones beach. and from the cross island you can take either the grand central or the southern state (both going east obviously) to the meadow brook, and there will be signs that say "jones beach." which of the highways do you take when you get there? the ocean one, loop one? i dunno, not very familiar with jones beach, i go to long beach.

Last summer I was lying out at Jones beach when I start hearing all this screaming and yelling. Apparently this kid smashed a beer bottle over another kids head and he was bleeding profusely! I rushed over to help (since Im a paramedic) and out of NOWHERE about twenty cops on ATVs came rushing in and tackled the kid to the ground. Then they went around and took alchohol from whoever had it. Dont know why I posted it, guess Im just bored and it reminded me of that day.

Apparently one of the kids was in a gang or something. Anyway it was complete insanity on the beach. When things like that happen it really scares the crap out of you. I was lying there with my eyes closed...last thing I would want is a beer bottle in my face. Cleared the bach out pretty quickly.

 

My boyfriend doesn't want to go because he thinks all we'll do is talk about mini's and he wouldn't have much to say. I don't really know what to expect since I've never been to a meet before. Do you spend most the time driving or just hanging out?

Id say its about half and half. They are usually fun though. Im thinking about not going myself.
