F1 Go-karting - 01/14/07, Sunday

Hello! There will be a meet next Sunday (and perhaps a run) to F1 Racing right outside Boston. Details below:

Link to website here: http://www.f1boston.com/
It is located South of Boston, off I-93 for those who don't live nearby.

Update!

We will be doing an "Arrive and Drive" event on Sunday, Jan. 14th (time TBD based on run or not). This means that we will just show up and hope the place isn't that busy and can get us all in in a reasonable time frame.
Cost - $10 for day license, $20 for 20 laps (on Sundays) - this means about $30 for the first race, another $20 for another race, etc. (if you want to do more than one time!)
Track - It has been said Track 1 is more fun than Track 2, but we can always have a look see once we arrive.
Food - There is food there that you can buy and I have heard it isn't that bad.
Billards - There are also plenty of pool tables to keep those not racing busy and those who do not want to watch every single lap.

I will let you know about the run as soon as I can plan it out!

Hope you can make it!!! (and if all goes well, I might try to make this happen more often!)

An Update!

We will be meeting at the Publick Parking lot on Soldier's Field Road, across from the State Police. It is on the left hand side next to the river before you pass the Harvard playing field. CHECK GOOGLE if you are unsure there this is! Or PM me.

We are meeting at 10am, going to IHOP for brunch, then driving down to F1 and then going on a run before racing. It should be a lot of fun! Join us!!

Update

How successful was your show and go approach at F-1 ?

Would you recommend doing it again ?

If so, is anyone up for this ?

If I remember right, the next opening was a few hours after we first showed. We all spent $80+ for 3 races. We then went on a mini drive, had lunch etc.
My opinion hasn't changed...very pricey. And sadly the cars are all in variable condition, the first I had the alignment way off and the brakes too grabby so it was next to impossible to control and more aggrivating than enjoyable. The next two I had were fine but...these things were not as fun to drive as my mini. I think some others were interested in doing it again soon.

So, were opinions basically mixed on this? Did you all do the outdoor track, or the indoor ones?

My dad's 60th birthday is coming up, and I was thinking of having him up to spend a day at F1. I don't know very many people with first-hand experience with the place.

Thanks!

I had a blast

Hi Chris,

Some of the comments above about the cars not being equal is accurate, but so what. Whenever you run an operation like the one at F-1, even with lots of attention, you will end up with inequalities in the cars.

Now, having said that, I've been there 2 times, and plan on many more visits. Even if you don't win, there is a huge FUN factor in racing wheel-to-wheel on a tight challenging course.

I've only done the 2 indoor courses, and am looking forward to having fun on the full course that covers both.

I think you're dad would have a lot of fun.
