British Invasion, 14-17 Sept, Stowe VT

Living here in Stowe I've always laid in a supply of meat and beer, then simply holed up to avoid the congestion down in the village during this event...until I got my MC. And while my wife and I are still way too cheap to pay to attend the actual event, we DO look forward to drives with other Mini couples. And the weather this summer has been way better than last year! Remember the Mud Bog of 2005? Not gonna happen this year.

So who can we expect to see?

Pete

Is it so much more money to go on the field? $15/person for the Saturday pass = $30, or $50 for both people and the car (and some freebies)

PS: Hello again

I'll be there. I haven't decided if I'm going to enter my Cooper in the show or not. I guess it would have the novelty of being the only(?) one equipped with a rollbar and harnesses. And maybe the high mileage winner, too. I might be over 100,000 miles by then.

But, my car just isn't as new looking as those belonging to people who buy a new one very year.

The pics I see of your car Jason still look stunning to me ... and even my "new" one will have 4K+ by then, just from bringing it home

I'll be there. I'm a cheapskate also, but will run paying the $50-60 fee over with my wife. Maybe we will enter La Roux! I'll try to be ready to motor around afterwards. I'm invited to a friend's house for dinner in Stowe later on. West Hill Road. Stowe up Rt. 104 is a nice 25 min drive from home. This will be fun.

Might need one of my special commemorative sticker or badges for that!

Why obviously?

From years past, the MINI crowd hasn't seemed to take the "show" part of this thing too seriously. Like Ian said, it's not much more expensive than parking in the parking lot and walking in. You get a goodie bag, a reserved parking spot, and a convenient place to put down a chair and lock you stuff up during the day.

The only downside to registering / showing is that you cannot escape during the day if you want to, unless you have another car handy in the parking lot.

Yeah, I don't think I could convince the wife that being stuck around British people with no way out is a good thing Still, might be somewhere to get a decent cup of tea *L*

Not all that much, I suppose. More of a New England thrift thing. And was it my imagination or was there a bias against Mini Coopers among the British car enthusiasts? I felt it, and figured I'd be darned if I was going to pay good money to be insulted by tourists in my own town!

There is a bias against MINI owners compared with Mini owners. The first two years I went, there was one big class for MINIs from about 69' onwards - although there were classes for other makes of car distinguishing tiny details almost year by year.
I decided I'd not go again if they didn't recognize MINI as different to Mini, but they did so I returned.

However, the host Chris is still very derogatory of the new MINI (comments about GBMINI#3 last year being "a whole six months old") - stupid since their marque was all brand news cars :(

Anyway, we get enough MINI owners there now to be able to have fun together and ignore the no-brainers ...

My wife, who writes for the local paper, showed up at his fine establishment and read Chris the riot act last year over his attitude toward her beloved Mini Cooper. It'll be interesting to see if anything changes this year. Hmmmm, maybe I should take her there for dinner and a pre-emptive strike..?

Hi Thompson,
May not remember me, but I sold cars @ imported car center many years ago. just bought an 04 MINI S BRG/Black. Have wanted one from day one.
Saw your club emblem (very nice) and would love one for my Mini. I live @ Bolton Valley Resort April-December and St. Augustien, FL winters.
Regards, Will

Great to see you found NAM Will Club sticker, you bet, free of charge to a fellow MINI Cooper S Vermonter. We'll get together as soon as you fly up north in the spring.
