MINI Installer and Upgrade Recommendations

Hi! I'm ordering a few Alta parts for my MC40 :

- Top-Mount Intercooler
- 19% Pulley (from 15%)
- Lightweight Crank Pulley
- Oil Catch Can Kit
- Short Shifter

Can anyone recommend a good installer in the NJ (even NY) area? I'm also wondering how much labor hours I should factor in for this round of mods.

And as far as the modifcations, does anyone have any thoughts or helpful suggestions regarding these mods... (so far I have a CAI, Borla Street, Exhaust header, Shark 93 ECU program)

Thanks so much for any help anyone can offer!

Helix in Philly is the best in that area, if it's not too far for you.

If you are going to auto-x or drive it hard, I would suggest an oil cooler with the 19% pulley. Heck, I would get it regardless. I personally am not a fan of crank pulleys...too much debate about the harmonics and effect on the crankshaft.

Thanks for the great advise! I just spoke to the guys over at Helix and they were able to squeeze me in on Monday.

The gentleman I spoke with really seemed to know what he was talking about, a true expert on MINI performance. He seemed more than happy to take the time to explain things to me. Very cool. If that conversation was a sign of their professionalism, then I'm very excited to work with them.

We decided against the Alta Lightweight Crank pulley for several reasons - the most important of which was related to the having a tendency to break engines, not sexy.

So far we're going with the Alta 19% pulley, intercooler, oil catch can.

With the Helix products we're going with their SHORT SHIFTER - which maintains the height of the shifter.

Helix has their own pulley - http://www.helix13.com/html/products...ew.php?p=6&h=m - and I'm wondering if I should go with theirs instead of Alta's.

He also mentioned the GIAC ECU. I currently have a shark 93 octane. Does anyone have any input on going GIAC is worth it?

Thanks! Bri

Helix

Both products are good. You may want to go with the Helix if he is doing your install. Support the guy who does the install. If you have problems down the road which I'm sure you won't,it's always nice to have the support of your installer for future help and advise on products. Helix always stands behind their products and has great info.
