Any plans to visit the mid-East coast, say PA/DE/MD/VA vicinity? Looking to do an FMIC and tune this summer, Baltimore metro.

I would be interested in a tune for my 2004 r53. Anyday works for me.

Clubman, I am just a member and not affiliated with RMW. All you have to do is call around and find a dyno located near you. I think Helix is in PA and have done it before. Call them and make sure they have some dates open, call RMW at the number you can find on the web and then start a thread. Put your name in spot #1 and list the rest. I assure you, if you have things lined up, RMW will work with you and take care of anyone who wants a tune.

In other words, you can make it happen. Basically, that's what I did last year and this year I want to put in the Vipec, so here we are again.

Next year someone else may have to step in unless I go crazy and upgrade something else.

For me, the combo of pulley and a tune are by far the best bang for your buck. After that you toss money and get smaller gains for each dollar spent in my opinion. It would be a really huge difference from stock.

We will wait until things schedule to see if there are volunteers to help you with the work (CAI should be no problem, for the pulley it may be harder.) You can call Swift from the link above and ask how much for an install of a pulley on mini tune day. They may even have them in stock so they can give a discount. Call them directly and ask then post the info in case others want to know.

This will give you an idea of what is involved. It isn't as simple as some jobs, but still not too bad. It can be done in a driveway but having the correct pulley removal tool and the belt tensioner tool makes it much easier, so much so, they are just about required for a beginner.

Not just yet. There are some behind the scenes things moving forward. The plan was to get the list going and wait a bit, so it is going as expected.

RMW has had a couple new race teams looking for tunes which is travel time, but really we are hoping he has a chance to tune a couple of vipec cars at his shop with similar equipment as ours so that when he is here, the tunes will be more along the lines of fine tuning. Otherwise instead of a normal time to tune my car, it might take twice as long (or longer) as he gets all the parameters closer and closer to what is needed.

Part of the reason the tunes are so affordable is that he can put in a tune from a car with the "same" equipment, as in, same size injectors, BVH or not, size pulley, etc. and then start the entire tune pretty close to perfect. He still has to change parameters through the entire RPM range while monitoring AFR and such, but the adjustments are on the small side since the start point is in the correct range for everything.

At this point every new vipec tune starts fresh with educated guesses and it just takes longer to get the tune into the sweet spot. It can be done, but for a bit longer we are just in a hold pattern. In the end, he can do it here, but it may make for a longer wait time and/or backups on the dyno for the Vipecs. We are hoping to get it so it is smooth for everyone like last time.

Just a minor correction on the signup list- you have me down as a R56. I don't imagine it matters all that much but it's an R53 that I have.

Also, as far as dates I appreciate things are still in the works and am not looking for an exact date at this time, but can you narrow it down a bit? Like are we talking about a few weeks or are we looking out past May or June?

Since I have some concerns about the whether my current tune is possibly running in an unhealthy condition for the engine, I'm hoping to get a proper tune soon-ish before I end up doing a lot of driving. I might consider another option if we're looking at this even happening later than May.

Dates are not set yet.

RMW tunes the Rum Bum Racing Porsche owned by the Bacardi's and after GrandAm at Daytona, two other teams are interested. Next week he is in Hawaii doing tunes and has had been busy just keeping up the normal business that is necessary.

http://www.grand-am.com/news/index.c...es=r&cid=51119

We are going to get this done, and obviously we want everyone to be included, but the timing isn't set yet.

Personally, I am all for doing it soon. I like this weather, hate the heat more than cars, and have a $$$ CPU sitting in the corner. He is even too busy just to make me a base tune to drive around with at the moment.

It's like the water fountain when you were a kid at school. The line sucks, it's long, but once you get there, you can take as much time as you want. Once we get this set up, all the expertise is ours, but in the mean time, the wait sucks.

Awe man Chris! I wasn't able to get a hold of the RMW Jesus Head yet. lol
I guess I shouldn't fret too much, so far this will be the 3rd tuning at Swift in a row (that I can recall anyway), so the chances of another feel pretty good.

he told me that he was still planning on coming out this spring. Since you are the one who sets this up I guess you would know better. This is disappointing to say the least.

This list is for those interested. Until a date is set, and folks pick a time, I don't mind adding possibles and maybes.

Once we get the dates set, those who sign up should be more committed and obviously we all will know a lot more.

Prices are in the first post, but I think that all supercharger engines are priced like an R53 since it is the same engine. Convertibles are supercharged a couple years after they went to a turbo on the coupes.

Wow I'm a dummy lol. I completely skipped over the first page of posts. I see you've got me down on the list. Appreciate it. Just for some more info, I've got an 03 Cooper S (R53). And I could come really anytime. Sundays or Tuesday are best, but if that doesn't work out, I'll just use a personal day from work lol. Thanks again. I'll keep checking back for updates.
