New England Mini Owners
Is anyone here interested in forming a car club? I think N.E.M.O. would be a great name for the organization, we can get together for meets, group purchases and all the other great things that come along, when people of various backgrounds get together to share their common interest. With all the great motoring roads we are blessed with, just think of the possibilities. I already envision a string on Minis winding their way up the Mount Washington Auto Road, or filling up the Ben and Jerry's parking lot
well you get the idea. We can use this forum to get things started, if Mark does not have any objections.

Uh... Sorry, you've been beaten to the punch on that one... There already
is a New England MINI Owners club. Hrach from MINI of Peabody is the
president.
Check out their webiste at http://www.airportworld.com/NEMO_main.htm
It's only $20 to join. I plan on doing it soon. email David Reid at
ycaptain@aol.com for more details on joining.

DOH! I'll blame this one on having the Flu and a new Mini at the same time
ops: Thanks for the heads up.

The New England MG Car Club welcomes owners of all British marques. There are of course lots of MG owners, but also Triumph, Jaguar, Daimler, Mini and soon at least one MINI owner.
Members live from Boston, Mass., to Bangor, Maine and points west.
The club puts on and attends shows, rides, etc. during the summer and holds monthly brunch meeting in Kennebunk, Maine, during the winter months.
More MINI members are invited. I can send you a recent issue of the club's newsletter -- I'm its editor -- if you're interested. let me know.

The pre-existing NEMO published a very 'anti' review of the new MINI in a recent newsletter, regardless of the fact that Herach is the president..!
To be fair they did publish my response to it on their web site, but I think it may be an indication of how the local Classic Mini owners feel about the new MINI....
I think it's a great shame, being an owner of both types of MiNi, I can't stand the people who think they have the only 'true' mInI... Look at the range of cars that are accepted into Jaguar clubs or Corvette clubs... Maybe there is similar snobbishness there too, but the new MINI seems to have been harshly attacked by some old-school Mini owners.
Don't know if a new MINI-only club is the answer though... doesn't it just perpetuate the 'us and them' feeling..?

In all my reading on the the Mini, I remember reading, but do not has ask me where, that the old minis are now selling for higher prices since there is so much buzz over the new ones. It is a shame and ironic that some owners of old minis are not happy, but can make a profit from the new Mini.
