Trip to Helix July 15th...
>>Anthony, I spoke with Eric and mentioned that you were coming in with your CVT for the Typhoon. I asked him about fitment because to my knowledge, no one has installed this intake on a CVT. Eric said he'd look into it. The thing is, Eric will probably MAKE it fit, modifying whatever to get it mounted, so if he hasn't called you to cancel, then I'm sure he'll take care of you when you get there.
I talked to Eric today....he doesnt know if it will fit, so I guess we will find out. I dont see how it wont fit. The engine bay/space is exactly the same on the CVT as the Stick.

How so? I checked today and it looked the same.... I dont wanna drive to philly for no reason..

This has been debated for months now. There have been few actual tests of the various intakes to see which intakes fit the CVT. You will be our Typhoon guinea pig. Here are some of the comments.
On the Green Twister thread, ARitz wrote: The real difference between the CVT engine compartment and the 5 spd compartment, is the size of the engine mount. In the CVT the engine mount is larger leaving less room for the intake to be squezed into when the bonnet is shut. So wheteher or not it fits depends on the dimensions.
And on an older thread regarding the BMC intake, Chrisnl wrote: The brace for Moss's Cooper intake bolts directly onto the transmission mount, which I imagine is quite different for the CVT. I assume the airbox is similar if not identical, and that the issue is more of a mounting one.

If only I were a bit closer to Philly... 7+ hours is a bit of a haul. But I really want the helix exhaust on my Cooper after seeing / hearing the one on HARMINI during the Mount Washington thing.
And the "Actual Size" stickers they have on their website are calling my name, too.
And a swaybar... maybe...
Lowering the car is pretty much out of the question as it is my daily driver and Vermont roads and winters don't go well with 4" of ground clearance.

i couldn't wait for the ride home, the pulley mod definably wakes up the car
btw: what is it with people driving slow in the fast lane?

koolmini: look out for you and your pullied monster!!!! Glad the trip to Philly was a good one. Eric's great and at this point, I bet he could swap pullies in his sleep. Did you leave your stock pulley in the giant pulley pile?
Anthony, how'd you make out with the intake? I'm dying to know.

You Bastard
Now I have to go spend money on software and springs and a swaybar, can't have you being just as fast with better handling, time for some new wheels too, the 10 pounders on Lori's car keep calling my name. See ya on Sunday.

>>I saw the K&N on Eric's Cooper today. Airbox is gone, should be no reason why it won't fit on CVT model.

Something about the tranny mount being different and impeding attachment.
