British Car Week
Top off those dashpots and oil those trunnions, it’s British Car Week once again. Held every year since 1997, British Car Week is intended as a way for enthusiasts to help spread awareness of British cars, and to help inspire the next generation of British car admirers.
“If you’re a British car enthusiast reading this, think about how you originally became interested in your favorite British car,” the organizers say. “Chances are, you caught a glimpse of one and it quickly swept you off your feet. Later, you somehow managed to acquire one, and from that time on it has provided you with a lifetime of fun and entertainment. If you had not experienced that opportunity, you wouldn’t have known about the car, and would not have gotten bitten by the famous British car bug! Since these cars have become very rare on the roads today, it takes a special effort to create awareness for the general public. If you’re a British car owner/enthusiast that has what it takes, then WE WANT YOU!”
If you’re fortunate enough to own a British car, participation is as simple as getting your car out of its garage and out onto the road where the general public can admire it. British Car Week organizers also encourage local clubs to plan events for the week – check their calendar to see what might be going on near you.
