Issues - Aftermarket Navigation Install
okay, here goes..
I purchased a aftermarket Navigation system for our 14 Countryman with the HK amp. I got the dash apart, everything swapped. I turn everything on, powers and works. No sound. I am sure the stereo needs to send signal to the amp to power it on. There are 4 cables on the harness that are marked “Grd”, “Key 1”, “Key 2”, and “Amp Con”. I assume the amp con is the amp control to power on the amp? Well, I connected it to what we thought was the correct wire. Nada!
Anyone install on and have any pointers? I did get the BMW service access to where I have the wiring diagrams. I’m mechanically inclines, just not so versed in electrical situations.
Thanks in advance.

The amp power-on signal seems to be the RAD_ON line in the wiring diagrams.

However, the HK system doesn't work like a regular stereo, and you may still have problems getting the HK amp to work properly. When the OEM head unit detects an HK amp, it switches into a different mode and feeds a fixed level output to the amp. The OEM head unit controls volume by sending digital commands to the HK amp on the CAN bus. It has always been a problem to replace the headunit with aftermarket on an HK system. You may also need to replace the amp with aftermarket (and the speakers as well, because HK speakers have some unique characteristics and only work well with an HK amp).

That’s my fear lol. However, it does have the two can bus connections. Or I may just rip it out (the Navigation). Anyone know if I can replace the broken speedometer with another “used” working speedometer? The current one has a dead needle, or should I say needle that is off by 20-30 mph.
