Anyone ever remove the CD player for extra storage?

Was just curious if this had been done, I kind of figured no, since most people probably like the CD player... I think I'm not that unusual in that a CD player is just as obsolete to me as a cassette deck would be, we never travel with CD's anymore and all our music is on our phones/ipads... the one thing missing from our countryman is a real good place to stash our phones...
Figured I'm one of the only crazies that might actually like this feature, but it never hurts to ask .

By the way, this is my first post... we just picked up our Countryman (used) a week or two ago, just learning all the little bells and whistles and doo-dads!

The Cd player is part of the CCC and controls some of the door chime functions, Bluetooth and radio functions.

You can disassemble the radio and remove the CD player component, but it will not free up much space.
