2012 Countryman Nav maps are years out of date

Hi everyone, I just got a 2012 Countryman with Connected w/Nav. The vehicle was mfd 08/12. The maps and street addresses for my area are pre 2005. I was surprised to see how out of date the map info was. Can the maps be updated with the official Mini USB $$$ or via your cell connection through Mini Connected? My MA that sold us the car was clueless and said "the maps just updare automatically".

I've searched the site but didn't find a solid answer. Thanks!

I believe that maps are a PAID update that you get from mini usa website and you then download them to a USB drive. Then you install them from the USB port in the glove box that is specifically there for this exact reason. Good luck

Try this : http://www.shopminiusa.com/PRODUCT/1...MAP-USB-UPDATE

The reason I hate to buy integrated nab units. My wife insists on them and then gets frustrated when a road isn't there.

I suggest that you go to a dealer and try the Nav in a new car. It's quite possible that the maps have not been updated for your area.

So you have to spend several hundred to get the nav system only to find out that you have to spend a couple hundred more if you want accurate maps? I guess I'll skip the nav system and just keep the TomTom from my old car which has map updates for life of the GPS. This is really disappointing.
