Definitive answer on Y cable with Connected+Nav
I'll be picking up my Countryman All4 in a few days and I've heard different things about the Y cable. Is it included with the car? Does it provide full integration for my iPod Touch? Anyone know this? Thanks.
Thanks for the answers. I picked up the car tonight.
I did get the Y cable. As far as the data, I'm using my iPod and I have a Verizon Hotspot the iPod uses to get to the net. I'll report my findings in a few days.

In case anyone is looking for a longer Y-cable. I purchased one online that works great. It's 1.2m long and all of the Mini Connected functions work great. http://www.9mart.com/products/2-Lots...ne-3G-3GS.html
Drronn, All the features found on the supplied Y cable are available through this cable ?
If so…that would be great. After I received my countryman I purchased dditional cables that added to the Y. Recently my countryman was vandalized, so I need to replace
both the Y cable and looking for an extender as well.

Ok thanks…When I followed your link and looked at the cable, looked as if the male plug was for audio only and not having the 3rd ring for video. Not that video is all that important while the car is stopped, just looking for the album art…etc.
So does the regular y cable not work? I have iPhone 4s and i get audio no problems but connected says no device. Dealership said there is a seperates cable for like 60 and obviously the 250 armrest adaptor. I sort of get the armrest being extra at the same time when you spend 1250 bucks between connected and armrest it should be included.
The Y cable supplied by mini should work fine for all your mini connected features. The cable mentioned is an aftermarket one that is longer in length for convenience but does not offer music videos when the mini is parked with the E brake up. As for the armrest, a snap-in cradle for the 4/4s offering all the same features as the Y cable is still not available. I've tried 3 separate ones over the past 6 months. They all offered some features, none offered all. A third party in the UK advertise a cradle stateing it offers all the features, still not confident enough to spend $250ish plus shipping to US to give it a try.
Maybe I need to take it up to the dealer then. Plugin says no device detected and the app doesn't connect. iPhone says it connected (music), Bluetooth works and all iPod functions work except video. Am I missing something or do I need a different cable?
So I took it into the dealership last night and looks like I had the wrong cable. It appears that if you have iphone 4/4s it needs the video y cable in order for mini connected to work. The cars coming in are getting the standard cable which works on the older iphones. Tried two different cables and a separate countryman, didn't work. We grabbed the video y cable and it works fine. I guess the pin outs are different on the 4s. If you have an iphone 4s make sure they give you a y video cable.
Our 2012 came with the same special three-ring cable that worked on the 2011s for folks using a 4s. No problems with video/audio. I don't think Apple has changed any of the pinouts since the 3Gs. I'm using a 3Gs so I suppose I could get the snap-in that has proven to work with the 3Gs, but I may be going to a 4s or 5 (fall?) soon...
Regardless I would make sure it works before you drive away. My cable would show up fine under Multimedia external devices. Audio would play fine, but no video (handbrake on) If you went to Mini Connected it said incompatible device connected. None of the mini connected features would show. As soon as we plugged in the BMW video iphone cable it worked fine. Everything appeared. Dealership said BMW has had problems with the cables in general. May not be a pinout problem per say just a cable manufacturing problem.
