Bluetooth

Just wondering if anyone ordered a car without Bluetooth and is now having second thoughts after taking delivery of their car? I had mentioned something to our MA when we were picking up my wife's car. She said it would be over $1K to have it installed.
Obviously, I would install it myself if I could change my wife's mind. I have a feeling she would be glad she had it installed since she's in the process of changing jobs and will be driving for her job.

A large portion of the $1000 is parts- the Bluetooth system is built in to other components, so lots of the electronics have to be completely replaced to make the change.

If you're willing to try a self-install, you could get much better bang for your buck if you went with one of the aftermarket Parrot-based systems. There's a few options at NewMiniStuff.com, and less than the $1000

it's definitely worth it though, I live in a state where it's illegal to talk and drive, and the bluetooth is definitely a live saver...literally! No complaints on the call/sound quality either.

Did anyone do the "after the fact" upgrade at the dealer? My local dealer said it is unavailable but they aren't the most reliable.

does this $500 BT option allow music transfer/play from say .. my iphone as well?
or is it simply for calls only?
(This would be w/ the basic stereo system, not the HK, or any premium/tech/nav pkg.)

One benefit of some aftermarket Bluetooth systems is that you can bundle them with items like GPS, which cost quite a bit at the dealer's lot as factory in-dash navigation systems. You can use a multi-function aftermarket Bluetooth kit as an alternative to purchasing a comprehensive feature upgrade package on the lot.

I picked up Mini Hardtop two weeks ago and chose it off the lot because it had the bluetooth and ipod adapter as an extra. I am so glad I did. I LOVE THE BLUETOOTH. The reception is so clear, better than on my phone. It's so easy and more safe to make and receive calls while in the car. I will never do without it.

Calls only in my 2012 CM4 with HK stereo and Bluetooth package. No connected. I WISH it would stream music. Going to end up buying an adapter that plugs in to the aux port just for that reason :-/

perfect. Thank you for the answer from an actual 12' CM owner. Come to find out they built my CM pretty fast so I couldnt add this anyhow. Glad I didnt now.
So, the car has an aux port for me to wire in my iphone for streaming music (right?)
- If so, that works for me.
- I'll gladly save $500 & use my BT ear pc or speaker ph.
