Navigation & Audio [eas] Official DICE High Definition Radio (w/ iPod support) Q/A thread
The HD DICE relies on text to operate - it would not be compatible with your radio. The standard DICE kit will be fine in your case.
That's the funny part. It doesn't matter. The other day I left the iPod in overnight. When I started the car, it picked up right where it left off. Went to work. Had to run an errand a couple of hours later...iPod/DICE went stupid, had to find where I left off again. Really bugging me...
That also is annoying that I should have to do that...is that normal? Anybody else have that problem?

Try testing with another iPod or if you have a backup of your music - perform a restore.

I've had the same problems too w/ my ipod resetting itself like that. I'm also annoyed that half the time, the text display isn't functioning. Last night, I disconnected the battery to get my HD unit working again. But still, the text isn't displaying 100% of the time.
When my display isn't working properly, it only has the letter "M" and will occasionally 'scroll' through the text title, using that 1 single space where the "M" is at.
Should I be worried? Or should I send this unit back for an exchange?

Any word? It was first mentioned as imminent in June...
Just curious.
BTW, I ve discovered that I can't "rewind" with my MFSW buttons...I can run something forwards, but nat backwards. Been that way for a while...ideas?

I've seen the "rewind" issue before - usually a reboot fixes this:
1. Disconnect iPod from cable
2. Remove battery cables, negative first
3. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system.
4. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes
5. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last.
6. Reboot iPod by pressing on MENU and CENTER buttons for +5 seconds and then reconnecting to the DICE cable after the reboot process is completed.
Let me know if these steps correct the problem
Glad to see this is ready!

Lee

Just curious - do you also sell the "regular" antenna separately?
DICE High Definition Radio Antenna

Tom:
Where does this antenna install of a 2005 Mini with the HK Sound system? Do I need the extension cord or not? If so, what's the part#/URL?
Thanks,
Lee

Yes, standard HD DICE antenna kits are on our site:
DICE High Definition Radio Antenna

DICE High Definition Radio Antenna

This depends on where you have the HD DICE module. If it is located within 36" of the radio module, no extension cables are needed.
Thanks!
Lee
Here are the items you would need:
DICE High Definition Radio w/ iPod Integration (MINI)
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=608
eas - Stealth Antenna kit for DICE High Definition Radio
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=1566
These items will get you High Definition radio in the MINI without an exposed HD antenna on the windshield. Be sure to order the optional iPod cable if you would ike to integrate your iPod.
How to install stealth antenna?
I've had the HD radio / iPod adapter installed for about a year, and wondered how the new stealth antenna installs. I've never been happy with the placement of the stick-on windshield antenna that came with the kit, though I otherwise love the setup.

The Stealth Antenna module connects to bot hthe MINI radio and HD DICE module, using the stock antenna instead of the external HD DICE antenna.
Had to reset the stupid unit again with the battery-disconnect process. I'll let you know how it goes but at the moment I'm not pleased.
Biggest issue is the inability of the unit to simply pick up playing the iPod where it left off. I have multiple 1hr+ podcasts that I listen to as I go to and from work. The trip is short and takes multiples to complete the podcast. Problem is, almost every time the unit either plays the first song on the unit I (which I am getting sick of), or it may actually remember the podcast directory but starts with the first episode rather than the one I was listening to (they list in reverse order...newest first...I like to listen in order, which is bottom first). Then I have to pull over...find the right podcast, and then search for the point at which I left off. Needless to say this is agravating...I'm usually at work by the time I find it. I've flat given up using the unit for anything but long (1+hr) drives 'cause it ain't worth the hassle.
The iPod always remembers where it left off...why does the DICE have to get in the way?

As for the ffd/rew, reboot the iPod and reconnect - you will gain these back.
The iPod simply cuts off communication to the dock connector in hibernation mode - breaking the handshake between the DICE or any other device.
Not understanding doesn't make a kit "unreliable", but feel free to contact me by phone if you would need an explanation in real-time.
