NAV DVDs?

Geez,

You think calling NavTeq directly would provide me with information on MINI NAV DVDs for North America. Calling them turned out to be totally pointless, expect them offering to sell me the 2007 disc.

Do you guys know if the BMW discs work for an '05 MINI? The one I'm looking at buying is:
2006 DVD Navteq part: S0001-0075-602
BMW Part Number: 65 90 0 404 347

The gal on the phone at NavTeq told me last year's part number ended in 602, so at least that matches. I'm bidding on this thing on EBay, so PLEASE.... any info you guys can give me will really help. Am I buying the right disc?

Yes the BMW DVD will work in a MINI. A MINI DVD works in a BMW. They are just the map data and not specific to the car.

Concerns

The reason that I was orginally concerned about this disc as it is a "DVD-CCC" , which according to the seller is for 5-series and 6-series. I hope it works

Edit: Here is the link to the item: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=170102578316

Good news and bad news...

Good news is that my MINI arrived in perfect condition after being shipped from Germany to Florida...

BAD NEWS: The NAV DVD I bought is NOT compatible with my Nav system, it simply tells me that the DVD is incorrect. After popping it in my PC and comparing it to my European DVD I had before (which worked), the files on the DVD-CCC that I bought are COMPLETELY different than the EU DVD.

Can someone PLEASE tell me part numbers or SOMETHING so I can actually get the right one this time???? PLEASE?

In the mean time, anyone want to buy a North America 2006 DVD for a 5 series or 6 series BMW? Apparently that's what I bought...

This is very odd and the first I have heard of this. Unless something has changed recently both brands took each other's DVDs.

I'm thinking the problem is deeper then a DVD issue, your NAV is probably coded for use in Europe and not North America.

Hmmm...

Why would that be the case? And if it is, how do I change it??

It is a US spec MINI, nothing about my Nav system indicates that it's programmed for Euro only.

US spec....was is delivered to the US or Europe on it's way to you first? The programming would be changed at a dealer.

DVD

It is US specification (engine, gauges, emissions, etc.)

But it was delivered in Germany to me, as I've had it since 2005.

Here's a post from somebody who shipped their car from Germany, simply popped in a US DVD, and it worked:

BMW did move to a new generation of Nav computer, which they phased into different cars at different times. I believe it first went into the 5, 6, and 7 series, then more recently into the new 3 series, and it is now in the MINI R56. I don't know whether they use a different map DVD, but it is a possible explanation for your problem.

Sounds like what you bought was a Professional disk instead of a HIGH disk. The MK4 is the same unit used in BMW and MINI. So, more than likely you bought the wrong disk or were sold garbage (which is why I avoid EBay for this type of thing).

You need is a 2007 HIGH DVD disk for the USA if you have an MK4. If you have an MK3, you need CD's only as it will not read DVDs.

Buy from a legit source and not pirated and you should be ok.
