Can you run a DVD instead of a CD in the NAV?

I bought a 2003 Cooper S a couple weeks ago. I live in Washington State, the nav system has a CD Southeast disk #7. Is it possible to run the Navteq DVD with the whole country?

If not will a BMW CD work the same. There seem to be more available on Ebay.

I also have a Garmin that I love, it works everywhere & no disk.
Thanks for any help!

Nope, I really do not think the CD drive will work with a DVD. As for BMW CDs, I never tried it when we had our 03 so I can't tell you one way or the other - perhaps ask Navteq.

Just go to www.navteq.com and you can buy brand new CDs.

The Navteq DVDs will not work in the MKIII CD based Nav system. Although Map CDs from a BMW will.

If you want to use the DVD map disc then you will need to replace the Nav computer which resides under your passenger seat. The unit runs about $1100 to replace. I'd just get new map CDs.
