MINI "ding" noise help

Hi, I have a Mini cooper with Sat Nav optional extra.

anyway, can somebody tell this: When I slow down into first gear, eg when I reach a junction .... Why is it when I pull away , I hear an audio "ding" noise.....

please , does anybody know what this is?

I don't have Sat Nav, but the Mini will give off an audible "ding" if the ambient outdoor temperature reaches 37 degrees or lower to warn of possible road icing. You didn't state your location - could that be a possibility? It's a little easier to hear when you're going slowly - it could explain why you only seem to notice it in first gear. Just a thought!

Check the Speed setting in the setup menu. It is designed to "ding" when you exceed the speed you set (I use it to remind me to slow down on a certian road on the way to work, the cops hide on it). Turn it off, or set it to a much higher speed, and it should stop.

GLJones' explanation makes sense. The speed warning is on the second 'page' of the Nav OBC.
I that's the case, you should see a flashing number at the bottom of the Nav display with the speed you've exceeded.

I can't think of any other reason for a repetitive ding, unless it's a malfunction.
