I hate to say it, but you may want to be prepared for disappointment. The bluetooth works through the SatNav, but it also can work with the standard display. It does not come with either.

I hope you didn't NOT spec it thinking it came standard w/Nav, or you may find yourself in the market for an aftermarket kit. Or, you have yourself a GREAT haggling point with your dealer, and maybe a reason to reject the car.

If you DO find out bluetooth is included with SatNav, please let me know ASAP, since I'll be looking to have the extra cost I paid for it taken off my bill! (I ordered bluetooth AND SatNav.)

My understanding is that the phone prep comes with convenience, but not with the Sat Nav by itself. I got both, so I won't really be able to help. Sorry.

The SAT NAV does NOT have the bluetooth built in as a standard feature.

Thanks for the responses. In fact, the sales associate was incorrect, there is no 'communication' option (bluetooth resides within this menu) in the NAV system without having ordered it separately. Kinda wish I did after using the voice control system for the past day. Recognition is excellent even with moderate background noise. If you say, 'frequency' followed by the station broadcast numbers (e.g., 106.7) while in the radio mode, the system consistently gets the correct numbers even on the freeway with the sunroof open! (providing you speak loud enough). I imagine bluetooth would work well and clear with this system.

Is is possible to have Mini add Bluetooth to the car later on or is it too late? I debated getting it and probably should have done so, since I ordered most of the things in the Convenience Package.

Has it started production yet? If not, you can modify your order.

I'm not sure about Bluetooth, but some items cannot be added later because the wiring for them is not put in at mfg.

And if it is too late to change your order, you should be aware that as an alternative, there are a number of after-market Bluetooth solutions, some of them discussed in other threads on this forum.

My car has been "on order" since November, so I don't want to do anything to the car that may prolong me ever getting behind the wheel of it, but thank you ever so much for the advice. Everyone on this board is incredibly helpful. If only you guys could do something about getting my car to me

If it hasn't begun production yet, Bluetooth wont delay it further. Ask your MA about it. Mine has the Bluetooth option and is sitting on a ship waiting to go through the Panama Canal.

Why has yours taken so long? Did you order something that wasn't available at the time?

Sorry for the delay, Robin Casady. I tend to forget where I have left posts.

My situation has been somewhat complicated. I began the ordering process actually in late October through a friend of a family friend that owns his own sales and leasing automobile business. My dad ordered his car through him and was able to save nearly $3,000, so my dad thought it was a good idea to go through him. What my dad didn't know, is how in-depth ordering a Mini is. Let's be real, it's not a real off-the-lot car. It's not like a Honda, where there's a hundred Civics sitting at the dealership.

At any rate, through his past experiences with Minis, Frank told me to go and test drive the MC and MCS to make sure I got the one I want. I was dead-set on the MC, but after test driving, decided on the more powerful MCS

In mid November I placed my order, to later find out that I would have to get a 2007. Okay, no problem. January roles around and I pick out all the new specs for the car. Then, I find out the nav wouldn't go into production until early March. I knew I had no control over that and dealt with it.

The real problem is that Frank slacked on getting me slated for production through a dealership. Long after nav Minis were going into production, mine wasn't, even though I already had all of my specs set. When I found out in mid March my MCS still wasn't in production and didn't have a projected production date, I hit the ceiling and told him I thought it would be best for me to just go to a dealership. That pretty much set him straight and my car was put into the system the next day.

Up until Monday of last week, he hadn't called me and I was thinking, oh s@?t, my car is probably not in production. Thankfully, he called me right after I made that post and told me my car was already on a boat. My MCS should be arriving no later than May 17th.

I could care less that it's 18 days away. I'm just happy I know it's built and finally on its way after nearly six LONG months. Nothing quite beats the feeling of relief. Worry has now been replaced by excitement

Thanks for your concern, Robin Casady.

Thanks.
The reason that no manual was available was that the navigation system instructions have been placed inside the manual for those who ordered it.

My MA was scrambling around trying to find a separate manual and was sure one of the other salesmen must have taken it since he was trying out my nav system.

Turns out those with the navigation system get a fatter owner's manua. Sadly, though, it's not real good at explaining the system. I've learned more through trial and error.

And, by the way, there is no British voice on the navigation system. One of those bland news anchor kind of voices that could be from anywhere and no where.
