The Visteon ULF bluetooth modules are the same as used to retrofit bluetooth in BMWs and they can send text over the iBus to the display on BMW radios. Seems like it's just a matter of getting a harness wired up correctly for it to work.

Am I missing something? For older radios there would be a problem as they are not text capable.

Similarly with issues about missing the "Talking Head" button the MFSW. In BMWs with retrofit bluetooth kits using the Visteon ULFs, a separate "Talking Head" bluetooth pairing button has to be installed (even though the cars have a "Talking Head" button on the steering wheel already!), generally under the arm rest for 3 series cars. A similar arrangement should be possible for MINIs (where to install the button might be an issue), but one could probably use the BMW button (BMW part number 84 13 0 302 715).
I received your email a short while ago.

We'll have more information on the non-NAV applications as soon as we complete development, the systems are not alike. There will be a couple of different configurations, depending on preferred features.

Yes - a pairing button will be used also.

I am supprised there has not been any reports on the new EAS BT kit for the Mini W/NAV .

I purchased one a few weeks back , but was just to tied up with things to attempt to install it ,also had to pluck up the courage to tear into my Mini .

Anyhow the unit is now in and functional Performance and sound quality both coming in and going out are real good . I did a test @ 50mph interstate ,windows open , I have 04 MCS With Alta header and Magnaflow catback plus of course the normal go fast goodies and was getting on it whilst speaking to the mrs and it was all good.

Installation was for me at least a little frustrating being a Saturday and EAS was closed , because I made a mess of interpreting the instructions and needed someone to fall back on . I got the unit in but it was not working . I thought that something was wrong with the unit , so had TOM send out another unit ,which he did no hesitation. After the new unit arrived and another couple of chats with Tom I finaly worked out that I had not connected the new harness up correctly and in less then 15 mins had the thing working ,ready to pair up . Which it did and as stated it works well .
I am totaly Audio / auto electrical illiterate which I think caused most of the problem and maybe EAS has to work on the install instructions a little ,but they are real helpfull with the talk through if needed.
Is the kit Worth the $849.00 IMHO
does it do whats promised (phone capabilty permitting) IMHO

Thanks for the feedback!

The important part is that support was here when needed and that you are up and running with your new BT system.

Let me know if you have any questions by email or use your new BT system to give us a call.

We're working on it. We're adding some additional options to the kit and will update the thread as soon as we are ready.

Does the R56 NAV have bluetooth as a standard feature even if you didn't order the Convenience package or bluetooth option?. My sales associate tells me it is a standard feature with the 07 NAV, but I'm looking for confirmation (since they haven't even seen an 07 NAV yet).

Yes, we have the kit here ready to test on a local vehicle along with some other goodies.

If there is someone in the Orange Co, CA area that would like to participate - please PM or email me directly.

That will depend on the installation and what pieces are used.

No pricing available yet - this will depend on what items are used for the install. We'll know as soon as we get a local MINI owner willing to participate.

Hi Tom can you discuss whether your none nav solution uses ULF / TC hardware to create the bluetooth connection layer , as I live in Europe it would not make sense for me to buy a ULF unit from the US when they are considerably cheaper over here.
Thanks

It does, however we have to fabricate the wiring harnesses ourselves - those are not available from any parts counter. There's also a pairing button and Mic wiring that is included.

We do all the hard work to make this 100% Plug and Play.

Voice activation

Tom, I purchase EAS bluetooth kit for Nav from EAS a few months ago. It works great but I was looking on your website and noticed it supposedly does voice activation of the Nav. I never received any instrutions aside from the install printout. How do use the voice activation for the nav and the phone? Thanks.

iphone compatible?

I am interested in your Bluetooth retrofit kit for my MINI with factory nav, but did not see the iPhone listed on the compatability list. Can you tell me if it compatabile? Also, how involved is the installation?

Thanks!

(I did a search for this, did I miss it...?)

Need Help with the install!

Hello, i just got this product from EAS. I am in the throws of installing this and have run into a snag. Now i have called them and plan on continuing to, but at the moment they are busy and I thought someone who has done this could help me out. Mounting the bluetooth box, is what is holding me up. There is a white plug in the way. What have you guys done about this?

Here is a picture to illustrate:

Any help? Thanks a lot!

I've always installed the ULF behind the factory speedo, there's plenty of room behind there.

Tom just sent you an email, I hope I explained myself better. Do you use the bracket provided or just some velcro? I am stuck at the page in the printed directions, that talk about installing the "Universal charger/hands-free electronic control unit" --thanks

If I remember correctly I detached the white plug from the bulkhead and moved it aside . Then mounted the large unit with double sided tape to the bulk head . Also a heads up to take note of the activation #`s that were on the reverse side of the unit.

I had an early release unit and it is still functioning really well. Only thing I wish I had is the button on the steering wheel to activate voice commands . Reaching down for the little button that is mounted below the steering colum fascia is a pain .So it is obsolete for me .
