Does the POI search SUCK or am I missing something?

Hi all--

Is it me or does the search function for points of interest suck? Is there no way to just search through the entire list of POI's for something? When I want to find, say, Circuit City, I have to know if it's listed under "Specialty Store", or "Computer", or something else? Or if The Rattlesnake Bar & Grill is going to crop up underneath the heading of Restaurant, or Bar, or Lounge?

It is INCREDIBLY frustrating. Why cant you just do a search from a higher level, like *all* POIs, or *all* Shopping, etc.?

Am I missing something???

Well, the PC term is, 'Non-intuitive', but otherwise you're pretty much right on...

I agree, I have been very disappointed with the search. Rarely can I find what I want... I now use my googlemaps on my blackberry to find the address and use it... what a waste.

It can be tough at times, but I have used it successfully on many occasions. It would be nice to not have to pick a category, just put in a partial business name.

A few months ago someone posted about being unable to find Office Depot (or maybe it was OfficeMax). Tried every possible category and it would not show up. Out of curiosity I tried it myself and could not find it either (went down every path available on the Nav). Also tried to find Staples with no result. I suspect that these are actually in the Navteq database, but the BMW software doesn't provide any way to get to it.
