Rename POI on stock Nav System?

Hey Folks,

Has anyone found if it's possible to put a name on the destinations saved in memory on the factory Nav system? On mine, the saved POI are only displayed as the address. I'd like to name them.

PS - This is on a 2006 MCS with the current DVD & firmware.

Not sure that I understand what you are trying to do.

If you are referring to saving a location that you have navigated to, you can do this by simply memorizing the vehicle position when you get there and under the Name portion you can call it what you want.

If you are talking about editing POIs that are in the system, this can be done but it requires you actually hacking the DVD.

Yes, you can do it - though I don't recall exactly how at the moment.
IIRC, you have to put in the address, then 'retrieve' the address and use it as a destination, then you can name it. I remember struggling with it the first few times, then I managed.

Sorry I'm so vague. At the moment I can't remember if you have to name it and resave it - that may be it... :impatient

Goto recent destinations. Select entry you wish to save. Screen will show address and has a new field called name. Edit name, then save the entry. Now it can be found by name in the address book.

You don't actually have to go to recent destinations though either. Just enter an address normally, as if you want to go there NOW... then scroll down to "Address Book" and "Enter Address". It will already show up there, and let you edit the name, then save it.

So either way works. Just depends on whether you want to save the "current" address or a "recent" one.
