2nd gen iPod solution?

Does anyone here use a 2nd gen ipod in their mini? Is there a good solution, or am I limited to using my FM modulator?

What do you consider the 2nd gen iPod? The one with the touch pad wheel but no dock connector?

If so, the best solution is use the AUX port adapter and a miniplug cable between the AUX port and the headphone jack on the iPod. I used to run this way with my last car. You pretty much have to ramp the volume all the way up on the iPod in order to get any real volume out of the setup.

Well, I have an 02 radio. So, I suppose in that case I'm just best off using the FM modulator I already have.

You could always check the Marketplace for someone selling their stock HU that would accept a AUX jack. They seem to pop up pretty frequently.

Or even better, the DICE:

While that would work it wouldn't give you any of the iPod interface functionality. It would just be a $150 AUX jack. The 2nd generation iPod lacks the dock connector (that didn't come around until the 3rd gen).

It would give you everything with exception of text display on the radio, since the radio does not support text. All other features are still present.

While all the functionality would be there with the DICE it would be wasted on a 2nd generation iPod. The 2nd generation doesn't have the dock port which the DICE uses to control the iPod. Instead it has a firewire port which was used for computer syncing and charging, a headphone jack, and a remote control connection which was built into the headphone jack. And just to head things off at the pass, the remote control connection on the 2nd generation iPod is nothing at all like the dock on the 3rd gen and newer, it didn't offer anything even remotely like the functionality the dock connector does.

You're correct - I misread the post, the 2nd Generation iPod (Classic iPod) does not have the dock connector.
