Order of songs on iPod with factory interface...

Hi all,

I noticed something weird the other day and thought I'd run it by you all.

I have a 20Gb iPod click-wheel model - the one that precedes the release of the iPod Video - so that's 3G I believe?

I have playlists set up in the factory interface format (MINI1, MINI2, etc)
I always listen to my music with the RANDOM button turned on
I recently added a bunch of new music to one of the playlists

After several days I noticed that the majority of the new songs I added just never showed up while in RANDOM format, no matter how many tracks I skipped.

With the iPod connected to my iTunes I noticed that the numbers in the PlayCount column for the songs that have been on there for a while is getting pretty high.

I assume this means that when the iPod shuffles it has a tendency to return to songs already played rather than pick out ones with a 0 or 1 playcount. Anyone else notice this? Although I tried to it looks like you can't zero out the values in that column to give every song in your playlist equal chance of getting played.

Another weird thing I noticed is with RANDOM switched off on the HK radio in the MINI, the factory iPod interface will play songs in order alphabetically by artist BUT ALSO WITH REGARD TO WHEN YOU UPLOADED THEM!!

For example let's say your favorite 80s playlist has the following artists when you first upload it to your iPod: ABC Alphaville DuranDuran
Ok? Now let's say you listen to that for a while and one day decide to add a couple songs by CuttingCrew.

You would think that with RANDOM turned off, and your 80s playlist selected you would get to hear in alphabetical order ABC then Alphaville then CuttingCrew then DuranDuran

Well it isn't the case on my 06 MCS. Instead I'll get ABC Alphaville DuranDuran AND THEN Cutting Crew.

Me changing the order the songs are displayed in (by Artist or by Song Name or by Last Played etc) in the Playlist when connected to my iTunes has no bearing on what order they play in when in our MCS.

Anyone else notice this?
What gives?

Fixes?
Thanks...

-e
