Nav system silent!

Just got the '06 MCSa Monday. I was playing with the Nav system and input home as a destination. The map plotted and the arrows guide me home, but there is no voice! the stereo volume drops just before a turn like it should but not voice instructions. I have the nav volume set to max from the set screen. It has the latest version and a 2006-2 disc. I can put it un perspective mode so I know it new. I remember the MA showing me a spot for setting the type of voice, but I can't find it in the system or manual anywhere. Anybody know what is going on?

Did they put in an Aux input or Ipod adapter? Sounds like somebody left a plug undone. Trip back to the dealer. Unless you're adventurous, then remove the downtubes and stereo and confirm that all the plugs in the back of the radio are in good and tight.
Voice/country is under 'language' in the settings menu - beware, volume max is REALLY LOUD - you should reduce it before they fix it.

Yes, they installed the aux adapter. Is there a separate plug for the Nav system? I am going to install the Parrot EVO kit from NewMiniStuff, but don't to add anything if the NAV is not working. I don't want them blaming the EVO install for the problem. If it is just a plug then I can go ahead with the install and correct in unplugged cable with the EVO.
If it is a cable, which one? the instructions for the EVO mention a 12pin cable, but make it sound like it combined for the AUX/IPOD/NAV.

There's a big@ss plug in the back that incorporates all the bits and pieces. As I understand it installing the Aux with Nav requires removing the pins from the 'regular' connector and inserting them into the the big connector. I'd definitely get it all working before plugging in anything aftermarket. If you're a long way from the dealer, it might be worth pulling things apart to see if you can get it to work before going back.

The nav voice "accent" is right above nav volume. There are 3 options, "US," "GB" and "E". I have not tried "E" yet, but maybe it stands for "mimE"

E is European and you will not only get Italian verbal instuctions but I think that your readout will now be in Italian. I barely got it back to my favorite UK female voice....not reading Italian....

Actually "E" is Spanish and it stands for Espanol...

I had the no voice issue when I installed the Icelink. The reason was because I didn't move the connector for the voice to the new connector. It is possible that they didn't plug it back up correctly. If you are not comforatble taking apart the car, it is best to take it back to them and get them to fix it. However, it really only takes about 20 min to fix if you are handy with a screwdriver.

FYI, if you need to know what wires go where, ask Mikey from NewMINIStuff. He can help you since you are installing the EVO. It should be a simple fix....

It's fixed, thanks for all the help.
The dealer installed the AUX connector and just unplugged the Nav connector! From the info in this forum I was able to determine that I needed to move the Yellow/brown and yellow/red wires to the Aux connector. Very simple job with a jeweler’s screwdriver. I also installed the parrot/EVO ate the same time. I now have the AUX, voice from the NAV, Bluetooth phone that works from the MFSW.
BTW, I have NAV software v27 (4-1/70) and there is no option above 'Language'. In other words they have removed the accent option. I can choose GB (great Britain) or E. I have no idea what E is, but when you select it, the menus change to another language that I don't read!

Congrats on getting it fixed!
There's no 'accent' option. The accent goes with the language.
For the older cars, we hack the software so that (in the most recent case)
USA=GB, E=Spanish (unchanged), F=American (with French labeling)

I did this a few months back and can't be totally sure but I remember at the time being 100% certain it was Italian - having some native-speaking Italian and Spanish friends and having traveled a good bit in both countries. But I could certainly be wrong so I will check again to correct myself tonight.

Also, I thought I had read somewhere here that E meant "European" and could include one of several European languages (in the sense of the three choices being "regions" - USA (North America), UK, and Europe). Again I may also be wrong on that and will try to track that down as well.

Yes, there is no European language but give the EU time !!! First, currency and next your tongues !!!
