Mine are in caps, and you can append useful info to them, so:

MINI1_Fun!
MINI2_Open Road
MINI3_Aggro!
MINI4_decompress
MINI5_a la mode

I'm not sure if the underscore is needed after the numbers... It's been a while since I looked at the spec, but these are in my iTunes playlist right now, and they work fine.

Just finished creating a new playlist for my MINI . No underscore necessary.

i.e.

MINI1 - whatever you want

hate to jump into this but why do you need funky names for your playlist? Is this using the iPod adaptor that MINI offers? or the $150 Monster unit?

It's the MINI adapter, it requires the play lists to be named in a specific manner.

Which is why it's not as popular as many of the other options and is something that people have said about it since it first came out several years ago....

if you have the Nav and iPod adaptor, will it then show any of the info on the nav screen?

Somewhere in this forum (or maybe Mini2 but I think here) someone put together a system where all the iPod data is funneled to the Nav screen (with album covers and such) - I recall that this was a pretty unique set-up, at least something I didn't think I would get around to trying...

I email MINI USA about 2 weeks ago concerning the next gen BMW adaptor. The official reply is that there is no word as to whether it will work with the MINI.

f***!

I can't believe it's that annoying...

I just ordered the OEM kit and it arrives today. I was looking forward to installing it and now I'm just going to box it up and send it back I think. Apperently I should have looked for thread on iPod adapters before I bought it.

I'm smart. s-m-r-t. err... s-m-a-r-t.

I had mine installed at the dealer before delivery. The playlist naming and lack of song titles is somewhat annoying but still way better than haivng to listen to commercial filled crap they play on the radio. I'm still glad I had it installed

If they offer the new BMW ipod adapter I linked above, I'll definitely be replacing it though. I guess we will find out in July if it is offered for the Minis

I caved in and installed it last night anyway...blew a fuse (thanks to my roommate catching it) and than noticed that two of the wires on the adapter were backwards -NOT the ones I installed, but the ones that are prewired. I popped them out, out the adapter back together, replaced with a new fuse, reconnected the battery and worked like a charm.

I should get OutMotoring to charge BMW (or Alpine) 25 cents for the fuse

...now I just need to rename my playlists :P

Just dont replace the fuse with a 22 cal bullet, even if it fits perfectly into the slot
