Is there a way for the nav to just show you were you are on the map without having to be heading to a "destination". I know the GPS shows co-ordinates, but is it possible to see the position on a street map?

Just got my nav CD in the mail today, haven't played around a lot with it, maybe it's just escaping me ..

I have not used a Navigation system on a MINI yet, however I have had them on previous BMW’s and it is possible to use the map without entering a destination. You could set the map to north or direction of travel and adjust the scale of the map to see the streets around you. My guess would be with the BMW influence on MINI that the Navigation system would be very similar. The navigation systems are a fun toy and useful tool and on the MINI put the speedometer where it should be, in front of the driver.

One of the biggest reasons I wanted the nav was because of where it would place the speedometer. My wife always ******* at how fast I am going, it wouldn't really help if this HUGE speedometer was right there for her to see!!

It also takes care of the problem that some have with seeing the tach. The smaller speedo and tach are very easy to see through the steering wheel.

I just wish they would have put five mph tick marks on the speedo. I keep thinking 75 when the car is going 80. It's going to cost me a ticket sometime.
