Complicated?

Ok - here's a head scratcher for ya.

I want to get XM ( or Sirius ) hooked up in my '06 MCS. I want to get my iPod hooked up also. I know that you can get the XM Direct with the BlitzSafe module ( w/pass-tru ) and then the other module to get the iPod to work.

However, I do not want a fixed XM unit in the car. If I am going to pay for the service, I want to be able to take it with me - ie. XM2go. Plus, if I get that unit, it will eliminate the scrolling info problem. ( I want to be able to see the song and other info. Plus a remote, etc. MFSW is ok, but very basic. ) So, that leaves me with a couple of options. I was looking on a few XM dealers sites along with the BlitzSafe one, and I found an interface Here that will take the input from the XM2go unit and put it to the HU - no RF.

So, the question remains. Can you get the regular iPod interface w/pass-thru and hook this up so that you can have both funtioning?

Also, why is everyone for XM? Is it that much better than Sirius?

Thanks for the help,

John

Update - - since no one has added anything.

I got a steal of a deal on a sealed up factory iPod adapter.

Now, the question is: can I sue the BltizSafe adapter to hook it in with the portable (XM2Go) or is that impossible? It doesn't mention anything about a pass-thru.

Thanks again!

When I bought my blitzsafe adapter (over a year ago) to hookup my XM (and I added a 6 disc changer and AUX input) they mentioned they would be releasing a new adapter soon tha would allow the hookup of a portable unit like you mention but control it from the MFSW and radio and such..... not sure if that ever happened but you may wish to ask them.

good luck and let us know how it goes.

Update - - Since I got my fac iPod adpat., it seems that I have screwed myself. Let me explain. It seems that the only adapter that Blitzsa... makes is the SLD03. At $270, - just for the adapter - that doesn't seem a logical next step. myradi.... has the whole kit for $240. That is not too bad considering it comes with the XMDir.... receiver.

It seems that this is the only way to go. If had known that the fact ipod adapt. would have been this much trouble - I would have steered clear.

I know, I know..... search, search.
