Navigation & Audio Saw on X5world the V27 Nav update is available
ebay 2006.2 disks
Finally got my disks from the guy on ebay (18 days after I paid). You know the old adage if it's too good to be true, it probably is. The reason it took so long is that's how long it took him to copy everything. It's a good copy (right down to all the packaging) but not worth $114 for a $1.50 copy. Looking back you can see where he sold his 2005 disk for $98 and started selling copies of his new 2006 disk. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Those of us with older MKIV units (see TheOfficeMaven's post quoted below)
- don't have the GB language option built into our units;
- have to use hacked versions of the firmware that swap the voice files around to transform all of our "highways" into "motorways"......

But I have the..... ,hell I don't know what I have! What I do know this is very confusing and on my 2003 MCS Nav screen ,it reads SW3-1/63. I just ordered 8 CD maps from Navteh I hope that was right. The one I have now is crap, it doesn't recognize highly traveled roads that been around for decades.
So what can do to get the British accent? I have been all over this thread on a dial up and its getting to be time intensive.

Thanks to cheiron19 for creating this v.27 variation, which I've hosted (FTP info below).
This firmware has
the British Female voice in place of the American Female, AND
the American Female voice in place of the French Female (this lets you compare/contrast the British and American).
In the USA language mode,
you get the British female voice and English text on the screen.
In the French language mode,
you get the American Female voice and French text on the screen. (OK, screen text in French is weird, but you'll be fine -- you're familiar enough with the Nav menu that you can figure it out whenever you want to hear the boring American female voice)
I'm using this firmware image on my '05 MCS, it's working just like a regular v.27 firmware except for the voices as described.
I'm hosting it here:
ftp://hixon-horstmeier-hitching.com/
User ID mini@hixon-horstmeier-hitching.com
password cooper
image file "BMW Navi v27 brit and american female.iso"
Burn this image to a CD and follow these instructions I've lazily, blatantly and shamelessly plagiarized from MDSBrain :
1. Go to your vehicle and turn the ignition switch to the first position. Let the navigation system boot up and get into a normal operating mode.
2. Leaving the system on (never turn the power off during these steps!!), go back and eject the navigation DVD from your drive unit.
3. Put in the V27 disk you created into your drive unit. Watch your screen and be patient. It says it will take about 6 minutes to do the upgrade, but it doesn’t take that long. When it’s done it will eject the CD automatically.
4. Put your navigation DVD back in the drive and make sure everything is working properly.

I can't get through all this with my slow dial up.Or slow brain
Is there someone that could send/sell me a disc to change my Nav voice over to British? I have a SW3-1/63 Nav.

. I got a decent PDF file ,but it's just BMW info? I don't know if I need a 26, 27, 27.1 or? I just thought it would nice to have a British sounding Nav system ,thats all. Megaupload doesn't mega anything.
JPMM, you appear to have a CD based Nav -identified by the intial 3 in the software code. As I said in post #134 above, CD based Nav doesn't accept changes willingly as do the DVD based Nav systems.
As Richard said in the first post of the thread I linked:
Bottom line, you're SOL.
As Richard said in the first post of the thread I linked:
DO YOU HAVE MKIII (CD BASED NAV??)
At this point, I haven't seen anyone successfully update any CD based Nav systems to the British voices. You can update to the latest software, but the voices don't appear to be easily changed.

- Go to the main menu and then settings. Press the menu button for about 10 seconds until a new menu appears.
- Check “Perspective”. Voilá. Perspective mode is now available. "
