Please help with iPod and XM installation

I am all confused on what I need, I have the Factory Nav with the iPod adapter connected to the head unit and I bought the XM Direct Receiver 101 /Blitzsafe SLD01, I connected everything in the trunk and I didn't get any sound, the display shows, XM Direct and Preview Ch 1, so everything looks fine but no sound.
I called myradiostore, and they told me that I got the wrong adapter because I have the ipod adapter in the dash, so that I needed the SLD03, they charge me and extra 45 dollars and I just got it, after plugging it in, I get the same problem, no sound. I called myradio store and they said that I need to remove the ipod adapter from the head unit and put it in the trunk and re-connect the original cable that the factory people unplugged to connect the ipod adapter, and then I have to route a cable from the dash to the trunk for the ipod.

I am really confused, don't know what is going on. I thought it was simpler than that, and that the XM took the place of the CD changer that is not used??

Please help....

They are correct. If you didn't have the iPod adaptor connected in the dash, the XM radio is a simple plug and play operation. But with the adaptor in the dash, it disconnects part of the CD changer harness (adaptor emulates a CD changer). By restoring it, the XM radio can then get the audio to the head unit.

The Blitzsafe adaptor has a pass through function that then allows you to use an iPod or changer. But the key is that the iPod adaptor must be plugged into the Blitzsafe (otherwise it can't pass it through).

thanks aDeLoreanGuy for the response, I talked to Blitzsafe customer service and they are sending me an extension cable to route it from the dash to the trunk to connect the ipod, and said that I need to have the ipod in the trunk, still not clear how this is going to work.

I talked to myradiostore as well and they said I need to have everything in the front and unplug the ipod adapter and plug it into the pass thru cable of the SDL03.
Has anyone done this before? Have the iPod adapter and XM radio and what was the best solution?
