Broken nav when updating.

I was trying to update my nav to SW v26. I followed the instruction and ejected the DVD then inserted the update CD. It said it was reading it, for like 2 seconds. Then the screen went blank. And didn't do anything for 15 mins. Never asking me if I wanted to install the update. And now I just have a blank screen, no computer, no nav.

Any ideas?

geno.

The troubleshooting section of the Technical Service Bulletin for v26 suggests that you have a bad software CD. Are you able to eject it? If so, put it in your computer and describe generally what is on the disc (there should be a lot of folders and files).

Describe the steps you took to create the v26 software CD.

Double-check the update CD was created correctly. Then put it back in. You should be able to correct the Navi.

I used Alcohol 120%. Downloaded the Rar file. Unstuffed it. Went into disc image wizard in A120%. Found the image file in the unstuffed Rar file. And burned it at the slowest speed 4X.

Below is a shot of the files on the burned CD.

Right, just burn the image to the CD.

Please check my blog for more details.

That's what I did. Maybe I will try burning another one. I also have a friend sending me the one he used so I know that it's a disk that will work.

Once the update starts the system will reboot leaving the screen black for a few seconds. It will then ask you to update the software. Strange this didn't work for you

Please take into consideration that your car must be a newer MINI (04+) to use this update and use DVD Navi discs.

Yeah the "Do you want to undate press OK" never came up. And disk was in the drive for 15 mins.

And yeah I have a 2005 Cabrio with MKIV DVD based nav.

weird... I am hopeful the disc from your friend works. The difference is night and day from the previous versions.

Hopefully burning a new disc or using your friend's will work. I did exactly the same steps you did, and mine installed flawlessly; also the contents of your disc look correct.

Yeah this is driving me crazy! Thanks to all of you. I am going to retry tonight. See if I can burn it slower. Use a higher quality blank disc. yada yada yada.

geno, with the luck you're having, you better do both! Seriously though, I think Alcohol Software is the originator and owner of the .mdf and .mds file formats, and it is what I'd start with.

I

had the same issue when I flashed my v26 version, it turned out some how the burning program didn't name the CD correctly (the label). To fix it I had to reinstall V25, then remake the v26 one. All is good.
