Good Value???
Okay got a quote from a local installer for the following system/tinting/alarm:
Alpine IVAD 310
Diamond Audio D351 Component speakers in doors
Diamond Audio D391 6x9's in rear panels
Dynamate both doors-FULL
Prestige/Audiovox 3 Channel Alarm
Alpine KCA420 iPod Adaptor
Window Tinting (black as legal in AZ) Lifetime warranty bubbling/cracking fading
All done, installed for $2800 out the door. I am paying about $550 for labor to install, but it is gonna all be done in one day (I won't be spending a whole weekend in the 90+ degree garage), all done to be perefctly/professionally done. A swell as being setup for a future 5 channel amp/sub setup under a false floor in the boot(my wife balked at over $3k for the complete system)
Sound fair? Figure 8 hours to install comes out to about $70/hour.

I'd also look at forgoing the rear 6x9's and look at a high powered 8" or 10" sub with a four channel amp. It'd be a little more expensive but you'd get much better sound out of this type of system. All just reco's though. Let us know what you do.. And good luck.
Forgot.. Check to see if the installer has done a mini before. They can tend to be noisy if you own an "mcs"

Good points. I think I am gonna forget the alarm, as it woun't be integrated in the factory key and with my Passat monster key/fob I don't really want another fob in my pocket. Gonna look like I ma sporting chub all over the place.
I am gonna eventually go to a 10" sub and 5 channel JL amp, but will need to put a false floor in the boot and the Wife is not too hot on the price already so that is gonna be stage 2. Gotta have somehwere to go right??
Also the installer AND the specific tech that is gonna do the work have done several MCS installs. They actually recommended (of course they did, they get more $$$ right?) the full door Dynamat as they have had a couple of Minis come back with really bad rattles (which the tech brought up, not me) in the doors.
Will post some pics when they get done.
