Does anyone have any info on the Plugins for the BMW nav systems which add TV output.

MiniMania has this:

Now available for all cars with factory fitted navigation systems, a TV upgrade Kit. Comes with all parts required to fit into your MINI, and will allow for external devices to be fitted, such as DVD player or Playstaion 2 (not available for USA)

Part Number: NMI7001 - TV UPGRADE KIT FOR CARS FACTORY FITTED WITH SAT NAV
Category: ELECTRICAL,INTERIOR,INTERIOR_NM
Price: $2,995.00

Nav-TV has this:
The MINI Cooper NAV-TV System is a do-it-yourself kit that adds a Video Module to your car. This module adds a "Television" choice to your on-screen menu that allows your passengers to watch broadcast television right on the screen as you drive.
Normally, the Video Module is only available in Europe and disables video while the car is in motion. Our modified device is made for US vehicles and the video stays on as you drive!

You can also choose to have us install auxiliary inputs to the video module so you can add a DVD-player, video game console, or any other device you wish to your car. (Tune to channel "AV" and your device is displayed.)

The kit consists of the following:

1. Video Module - (explained above)
2. Cables and Harnesses - used to connect and secure Video Module
3. Stick-on-Glass Antenna - used to acquire signal
4. Detailed Instructions - easy to read with many hi-res pictures

DVD-Player - House brand DVD/SVCD/VCD/MP3 player with remote and all cables.
Sanyo 10-disc DVD-Changer - 10-disc DVD carousel with all cables.
VCR Unit - House brand VCR unit with all cables.
Reverse or Mirror Camera - Click here to display a popup window with details.

MINI Cooper NAV-TV Kit $1100

Optional Accessories
Reverse Camera System $240
Mirror Camera System $395
VCR Unit $275
DVD Player $295
Sanyo 10-disc DVD Changer $550
Link to part

Does anyone know the differance between the two other than the price?

Thanks,
Frank

I guess ya'll missed the point. Check out the price difference. Why has Mini Mania marked this item up so much? Im not questioning their practices, just would like to know what make theirs a thousand dollars better.

As for driving and watching tv, it's another opinionated question. I live in europw and would love to have a dvd player so my wife can watch it while we drive for 12 hours to a distant country. Also, you must have never taken the ferry ride from France to England...That's about 2 hours of my life I would love to get back. Their are reasons for these things.

Wow.
Just earlier today I was wondering to myself if there was anyone making a kit to play video on the factory monitor. Very cool for wowing car show judges and silly for the street. Perfect. I used to sell in car pioneer DVD units and they had different tuner models. The tuner that would play DVD, VCD, and CDs was $hundreds cheaper than one that played TV. TV reception in cars has always been poor with every brand name. I wonder if they offer a kit with just the auxilary plugs. Anyone know?
