Has anyone installed this in your mini? If so, how is it, and where did you mount it??

I have not heard good things about the Parrot products in comparisson to SonyEricsson. I have the HCB-30 Bluetooth Handsfree kit in my MINI and it works great. I mounted the speaker under the dash, the microphone in the roof on the plate that is there, and the module behind the glovebox in a track that seemed made for it. Check the forums on www.expansys.com for more info on which bluetooth kits are compatible with which phones.

 

I purchased the Parrot unit and had installed it (+$400). It was one of the worst purchases I've ever made. The voice gain was too low, so the people I was calling couldn't hear me talking. I had several different microphones installed to see if I could get a better result, but no luck.
The fact that the company I purchased the unit from and who did the install was shady didn't help. Bottom line: terrible reception, wouldn't hand-off with the Bluetooth headset I already had (I had to unmount and mount every time I got into the car), crappy microphone gain, switching lag (within the control module), etc. I finally tore the unit out of the car and tossed into a box. Finally, I had to explain to my wife why.....
