static on the FM...need new noise suprressors?

I've a 2004 MC with the stock radio/CD.....have had the car for a year and just lately, the radio on weak FM stations you can hear static in the background that seems to be related to the engine revving and if while it is staticcy you stop, it gets less and then if you shut the car off the static stops and the radio is pretty clear......it sounds to me like the noise suppressors have stopped suppressing..has this problem happenned to anyone else out there in MINI-land and does anyone know if there are separate stand alone supressors that can be looked at or if they will need to take out the HU and work on it or replace?.....I haven't called the dealer yet...wanted to get more info prior to me calling the dealer...I have a boot CD changer and an aux input, both of which are self installed and were working fine, but I think I'd have to take them out prior to the dealer working on the radio seeing them so they won't be able to blame my installs on the static

Just noticed...the radio is absolute perfect and clear, for about the first 5-10 minutes and then the background static just suddenly kicks in....comes thru each of the 4 speakers.....when I shut the motor off, the static stops...then whenI put the motor back on, the static starts right away....I guess I'm ready to call the dealer on this, but does anyone out there know if the stock cd/fm HU on my 2004 MC has separate stand alone noise surpressorsors or will they have to work on the HU directly and would it be best if I removed my own self installed cd changer prior to going in to the dealer??

If your MINI is under warranty, I would let the dealer figure this one out. If it's not, I would start with the spark plug wires. Heating up and shorting out?

That's just a guess.
