Navigation & Audio Computer hookup, video, audio?
in an effort to renew interest in this thread, i'll mention that now that the weather here is nice, i'll be done with my computer installation shortly. I simply need to test two types of videocards and then build the case.
pics will arrive shortly!
anyone else start this yet?
my main problem is finding a video aspect that best meshes with the screen. Does anyone know the actual pixel count from left to right and top to bottom? good refresh rates to present it with? all that wonderful information?
thanks!

Something to start the creative juices..
All,
Take a look at this .
Nice bit of work. I didn't like relocation of power button initially, but it grew on me. Hub additions mean you can more easily access for peripherals and goodies like a handheld gps, tracking off a 7" LCD. Check out macgpspro.com for a strong solution. Particularly if you use a Garmin unit.
Cheers,
Matthew Z.

no time to read this whole thread, but in case it wasn't mentioned, a program called powerstrip will let you output custom resolution from your computer to your screen

But lately I've been thinking about the space behind the knee bolster on the driver's side. The European versions of the MINI have a shelf instead of the bolster, so it would seem that here may be some space there.
There are several places to put a computer (depending on size of course). One is the glove box (duh), there is room in the knee bolster (i have a euro shelf and you could almost just stick a MacMini in it (not quite deep enough I don't think) but with a little cutting it would fit nicely. Also the MacMini should have no problem fitting under the radio stack and above those things called cup holders, you can also put a computer under the driver seat (if you have nav, or if no nav: passenger seat too). You will have to cut the carpet but it is under the seat so no one can see. Those are just the ideas I have thought of and others have said here on NAM. Lets see some pics (as soon as I get some money and time, I will get to work, hopefully!)
Thanks for the info about power strip! This looks very useful! I might not have to include an nvidia video card, instead, i can use the onboard one that came with my comp.
I'm probably stashing a custom-case computer under the glove box, but i'll look again under my passenger seat for the old GPS storage box. I have GPS now, but it exists under the driver's side. Is the hole in the floor from the passenger side still present? Is it still waterproof?
i swear i'll have pics of this soon. the weather is taking longer to warm up here than it should have...
