have you tried BimmerCode?

 

This is a bit more involved and I believe it can't be done with BimmerCode. I have BimmerCode and use it for small adjustments and changes.

 

actually from what I’ve been told it can be done using BimmerCode expert mode. Just find hmi_id_version and switch to id6_lite

 

O really? If true that would be freaking awesome, thanks man! I have to do some more research first - do you have any forum threads where people did this and it worked? From what I could understand there are different modules that need to be flashed with updated UI and whatnot - if this could be done with BimmerCode like how you describe, why would people like Bimmer Remote Coding charge like $200 for it? https://bimmer-remote.com/collection...47825965515076

 

im just relaying information that i received from people in this forum, including one of the two you’re reaching out to. And you might not find a thread seeing how most people deal in PMs. But I did correspond with BimmerCode directly and asked if i don’t like it can i just switch back using the same screen. They said yes. Good luck

 

Oh and BimmerCode also solves full screen CarPlay that bimmerremote charges like 90 bucks for. So there’s that

@minirogue1 - Unfortunately, boki's car has firmware too old to code the new UI via Bimmercode. He needs a firmware update before coding the new UI will be possible.

Just a side note, I hope it's not going to cause any problems but two years ago or so I had one of the forum members here (I believer his ID is pillpusher82 or similar) help me and installed the digital dash in my Mini and coded it. He used his laptop and had to change my production year of the car or something for it to work and a bunch of other things - you probably know much more than I what he actuyally did/coded. I hope all that is still going to work fine, right? Thanks again.

 

OK, big thanks to @ndal and @sb2002 for helping me flash a new UI on my 2019 Mini Cooper JCW - I looove it! The whole process was painless - both connected with me via Whatsapp, ndal took over my computer and did all the programming and changes, what a wizard - thanks again guys, really appreciate it! If you decide to do it, please contact them, the'll take care of you in a hearbeat.

Hi guys. Old time lurker, first time poster here. I was wondering if @ndal or @sb2002 can help me with a BDC update to enable the id6 style change. I already got the headunit updated and everything is fine, other than the fact that I am stuck with the bluish lounge theme.

The vehicle in question is F60 JCW 2020 with EntryNav2 HU. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hi @miniRogue1 - the blue-ish lounge theme is ID6, but you should also be able to select the sport theme, which is mostly black with some red details. @Dewy89 isn’t able to select the sport theme.

 

my new theory is that sb2002 is a MINI engineer that comes on here to collect VINs and enters them in the system to void warranties. . Ha ha. Thank you. Helpful as always

 

Not sure if this thread is still being watched, but I ended up in the same place as Dewy89 with the half solution of head unit being updated to iD6 but the BCD didn’t get flashed and I’ve lost the Sport theme when in sport drive mode. Just wondering if sb2002 was still around and able to provide some guidance.

Just a bit bummed to have lost the sport display theme and was told by the service that did the head unit update that updating the BCD could be risky… but I have no way to confirm or deny this is the case.

I’ve run into this issue numerous times now and have helped people with this issue when another service has, in my opinion, skipped part of the job.

Thanks sb2002. I am with you on this one. It felt like it was half done but the service advised that they would attempt the BCD flash but doing so came with risk. Hopefully this unlocks PM too…

 

@ndal @sb2002 y'all still helping folks upgrade? I have a 2019 F57 with the EntryNav or whatever the 8.8" screen with navigation and updated MINI Connected is called. I purchased a fullscreen CarPlay "unlock" and turns out, my headunit's firmware is too old to accommmodate the fullscreen functionality (it has CarPlay from the factory, however). Can you assist with updating the firmware? Thanks!
