different indicators on replacement boost radio
i have had problems with my boost radio's display in cold conditions. I took it in for service today and they replaced it, no questions asked. I drove off and immediately something struck me odd about it. Well, it could have just been that there is no dust on it, but that wasn't it. on my drive home, I finally realized that the stations nor longer had "ST" after them and that next to the RDS was "INF" instead of "PTY".
it is obviously not the same exact model, but my question is, what is it? The Aux adapter was working, the stations came in clearly, but these subtle differences. Did they change the Boost HU during MY04?
If anyone's HU has "INF", can they tell me a couple of things?
1. when the "*" after INF blinks, what does this mean?
2. do any stations show "ST" after them as in stereo? maybe they forgot to plug in the antenna cable
3. what does "TP" after the station mean?

well, i guess no one has this stock radio I just had installed as a replacement to my early '04MCS.
From what I gathered from deduction was:
1. INF is for activating traffic info (a feature very nice in europe)
2. the star blinking only happens when the TP does not follow station. I guess it probably means traffic info not available and that the TP is for traffic program.
3. I found PTY under the Audio Lin menu (pressing note for a while) and I could activate it or not. considering that the US doesn't really send either traffic or pty (at least yet) they are both useless.
4. the stations don't seem to display ST for stereo, but they obviously are coming in stereo, especially if the other RDS is also picked up.
5. I also discovered that if INF is active, * on, that search skips stations not sending the traffic carrier. similar to using pty to only find stations with a type of programming.
in the end, I think I figured out my radio, but if I'm wrong and someone would like to correct me, I would appreciate it.

Maybe your radio has not been configured for USA - if it is in Europe mode it might display other things.
Check:
Does the AM band step in 9KHz or 10KHz steps?
Does the FM band step in 0.2MHz or 0.1MHz steps?
