Help with Y cable and iphone

I recently purchased a 2013 Mini Cooper and it came with the OEM y cable for an iPod.

I have an adapter to lightening but I don’t get audio.

Should it work?

Thanks so much.

Make sure it's an Apple 30 pin to lightning. Some have had issues with non-apple adaptors. Also, make sure the 1/8" plug is pushed all the way in. Mine felt like it was in all the way, but one last hard push got it in the final click.
Myself and many other have gone to the tune2air Bluetooth adaptor.

Thanks so so much!!

i suspect my 30 pin to lightening isn’t An official apple cable.

I really like like the blue tooth adapter- I will consider this as well.
