Hey folks looking for some help in making sure an amp im lookng at on ebay is the correct unit to replace my blown HK amp (I have an '05 r53 w/ HK sound). It looks like the correct part, I will try and post pics, but the P/N is different from what I see selling at ECS and other sites (for new units).

The P/N for this item is 6512694020501

However, the part number on ECS is 6512914670801

Any help you guys can provide would be great. Thanks!

personally I'd go with an after market amp to replace HK amps.

 

As a counterpoint, a cheap Ebay HK replacement beats spending money on a new HU. I've got a E46 HK amp in my R53 and I'm very pleased.

 

The JBL MS-8 appears to work: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ce-hk-amp.html. Because of the unusual design of the HK system, there are only a few aftermarket amps that can be simply dropped in without needing a lot of other modifications.

Is there a difference between the r52 (vert) and r50 hk amp?

 

Pinouts are the same, the internal crossovers and program is set up for the 6": dual cone rear driver speakers of the R52 convertible vs the 6x9" s of the MINI Hardtop.

 

So what is the impact of the programming being different? The first amp I received from eBay didn’t work. On my second potential used amp but it’s the r52 one... thanks the the help!
